Have just returned from a 10 day stay at The President today (13.8.09.) After searching through bad reveiw after bad review on hundreds of Costa Brava hotels I finally came across this hotel. By this time I was fast becoming put off from travelling to Costa Brava. However, this hotel (for 3 stars) was absolutely excellent. Rooms were fine, hot showers at any time of the day or night, Could not fault the cleanliness. Rooms cleaned every day, pool area cleaned daily, etc. We stayed full board and the food was fantastic. Plenty of variety for even the fussiest eater (of which I am one) Even our 12 year old found plenty to eat and we never heard a complaint once. Hotel had few English but that wasn't a problem. Lots of Spanish, French, German, Dutch guests but no problem. Entertainment at the hotel was not for us, waltzing and spanish duets, but we did have a great night on our last night where they had Krusto the clown and a compere on who got 5 guys up for a competition doing all kinds of daft stuff. We really enjoyed it. Calella itself was a bit quiet for us. (From what I can gather the place comes alive later on so sounds like a great place for the young ones.) Nothing much happening except sitting in a bar with music in the background which would be my only critisism. Travelled to Barcelona on the train, really easy to do, and went to the zoo. Expensive but a great day out. All in all I would say I was pleasantly surprised. I would definitely go back to The President Hotel, just not sure I would go back to Calella.

I have been in this hotel at the beginning of July for 10 days.

We have chosen this hotel based on the reviews here and the fact that it was the second best from the hotels in Calella. After staying in it, it is hard for me to believe that there is only one better hotel in Calella. I mean it was fine, but just an average hotel.

Minus: the hotel rooms are very small and basic, no hair drier, no fridge in the room, the bathroom outdated. The pool is small for the hotel’s capacity. Entertainment in the hotel was very poor. Ants in the rooms.

Pluses: free internet (but only in the reception area, and, if you are lucky, the rooms from the first floors can catch some wireless, though not the best connection). The ladies from the reception and in fact all the personnel were very nice. Rooms were clean.

The meals very fine, not great but one could find always something to eat. The breakfast was quite repetitive; the same type of ham & cheese for 10 days can be a little too much.

In all it is a fine hotel but I would not go there again.

Just returned on 24th July and had a great time. Party consisted of 2 couples, one 17 year old lad, two 14 year old girls and 11 and 10 year old boys so we had a lot to cater for. Glad to say the hotel was perfect for us: immaculately clean (pool area, restaurant, bars, rooms etc), great entertainment suitable for all ages, food choice and quality was excellent with every meal offering something different and plenty of choice so there was always something for everyone (Mexican, Chinese, Spanish, American theme nights were really really good). Cannot praise the hotel staff enough - reception were very helpful, bar waiters were real characters and the restaurant staff were first class. The resort itself is in need of a face lift, there's a few decent bars around the hotel but with the quality on offer at the hotel there's no real need to leave it (a pint is 2 Euros and that cheaper than most of the bars!). We'd definitely go back to this hotel again in the future - might even go for a short break as a couple.

As I'm writing this review I´m at my balcony on the 7th floor at Hotel President. I can be connected to the internet (from the balcony or the lobby) and its for free - password you get at the reception.
I can see the ocean from the balcony.

We are here as a group including four teenagers. The place is wonderful. The staff is always friendly and helpful, the hotel and the rooms are spotless clean, the food (we have full board) is very good. There is buffet 3 times a day and there is lots variety in salad, bread, meat, vegetables, soups, icecream, cakes. We thourgt we wouldn´t eat at the hotel every night - but we have to, otherwise may have food that is not as good as here.

We are happy that this hotel is not the most "partying" hotel at Calella - if you want party there is plenty of places to go in town. The hotel is more family-friendly.

The only thing I can think of that is not so good is taht the rooms are a bit small and the furniture are from the 70´s... But who cares when everything else is so good!!

I have just returned from a week stay in the President Hotel.Everything was great!Hotel is situated 8 minutes walk from the beach, not a problem as you can have nice stroll.Rooms are spacious and very clean, maide are doing great job, towels are changed daily.Food is fabolous, wide range of choice with lots of fresh fruit and delicious desserts,if you are not on diet book FB as you won't regret!Drinks in the main restaurant and the bar are of reasonable prices. There are three pools, all of them well manteined and very clean. My daugter( 2yrs old) enjoyed kids' pool and also little playground.Staff is friendly and always happy to help specially ladies from the front desk. There is only one English channel in the tv but it wasn't problem for us.There is lots going on,each day there is different entertainment planned. If you are group of young party people you may not enjoy as there are mainly older couples and family staying, choose Top H Olimpic. I had really excellent holidays in the President Hotel.Great value for money!
