We booked 8 nights in Sant Jordi based on the positive reviews we found on several travel portals - and it was a really good choice. Although the hotel is in the touristic area of Calella, it's a bit off the busy zone, so it's generally quiet. It also adds value to the location, that there's a fruit&vegetable shop and a grocery just one-minute away.
The hotel is not too big, so you can feel a bit like home.
Our room faced the small court-pool, which was a favorite spot for some guests, but the noise was not disturbing. The corridors of the hotel are decorated tastefully with Dalí replicas. The room size is good for a 3-star hotel, its air was clean, definitely not damp/moist or cigarette smoke-filled. The AC worked well, although it brought sometimes cigarette smoke-polluted air from neighboring rooms. Our only complaint was about the bed: the mattress was worn-out, a bit sinking and creaky.
The breakfast was of a good selection even for 8 nights (we didn't try their lunch and dinner service). It always included a Spanish or Catalan cold cut, sausages, pastries as well as fruit, yogurt, not just eggs and bacon.
The hotel offers very reasonable car rental service - economy category car for 50EUR/day. The staff was fantastic; they have given us very good pieces of advice for our Montserrat trip - how to drive there, where to park the car, what to see in the Monastery that wasn't even included in our DK guidebook. They definitely speak Catalan, Spanish, English and German - at least that's what we heard.
And, the best for the last: we were surprised that the room price included a gratis, 8-time invitation for the two of us to the spa next door including a series of different water-massage pools, jacuzzi, multi-thermal showers, sauna and steam bath, and also a 50m swimming pool, with free refreshments.
