It seems odd to me that we should have flown half way round the world to go walking, but not at all odd that we should have found Bothfeet perfection.
As a walk, The Great Ocean Walk suited us (me at 60, my wife, and our 8-year-old daughter) perfectly. 10 to 20 km, some stiff climbs but none too long, limited nasties (one leech, satisfyingly bloody and even more satisfyingly not on me) and unlimited empty sandy beaches. April weather perfect for someone used to a British climate.
Bothfeet supported the walking well. Lots of guidance from friendly natives, guides and porterage if required (not us), kit hire if required, transport to and from walks. Packed lunches and snacks.
And when we got back ... five star relaxation. Lots of space and warmth, hot showers, comfortable beds. And above all the cooking, or rather cheffery, at the time of writing fusion style from a Vietnamese restauranteur in waiting. Most pleasant habit of not charging for minor luxuries like cakes for tea, foot spas, soft drinks.
Suited us perfectly. The owners are cheerful, hospitable and immensely hard working. Well worth twice twenty-four hours on Quantas.
