“Outstanding”

Wingate Inn Stafford

I was absolutely impressed with the Wingate Inn Hotel. My fiance picked this hotel while I was in town visiting him. He had heard from friends that it was the best hotel in town... and boy were they right! Everything from the staff to the room was great! Even the "continental breakfast" (which I wouldn't even call it, by the way) was fantastic.
At most hotels, continental breakfasts consist of only doughnuts and coffee, but not at the Wingate Inn. This one had eggs, breakfast meats, biscuts, bagels, and even a make-your-own-waffle machine (and yes, more).
The room was quite large and I was surprised considering I just got a regular room (especially for a chain hotel). It really felt "homey" and cozy while I was on my trip. I am also a huge stickler for cleanliness and even I felt comfortable with the cleanliness of their towels, sheets, bathroom, etc.
The staff was also very helpful and wonderful. They were always friendly (even at 2am) and always went out of their way to help me when I had questions; not to mention how sweet the 2 ladies that took care of the breakfast were.
I loved the fact that they had both types of laundry service. You could either pay and have them pick it up and do it for you or you could use the washer/dryer downstairs for free and do it yourself.
They also had a Business Center, which was great because the during the evenings my fiance had his laptop so we just used the free wifi in the room but when he had to go to work and take it with him, I just went downstairs to the Business Center and used their computer. The Business Center also had a free printer and fax machine, which is rare to find anywhere, much less, a hotel.
They also had a pool and jacuzzi. I never used it but it looked well kept and nice. I also enjoyed using their workout room in the morning. It had, if I remember right, 2 bikes, 2 elliptical machines, 2 stairsteppers, and 2 treadmills. They also had a tv in there to keep you entertained while you sweat and also a mirrored wall to remind you to step up your work out :o)
Even the "little things" really made my stay even more wonderful... like being greeted by various staff in the hotel, the USA Today at my front door step everyday, an actual coffee area (not just a coffee pot in the bathroom), and a large mini-fridge and a microwave. I also loved the fact that they offered free cookies at night by the front desk. It's just such a cute touch.
I just can't say enough great things about this hotel. I will only stay here if I ever visit Stafford, VA again and I will definetly be seeking out other Wingate Inns around the country in my travels, from now on.

    • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — It's not really a secret but some people may not have noticed it... the basket of cookies at the front desk at night! Yummy!

This Suite was booked for my Girlfriend and I to stay at during a work assignment. I was instantly impressed with this hotel. We arrived at 10:30 AM on a Saturday Morning and they allowed us early check in with no problem at all. Awsome staff and very professional. They had three Jacuzzi suites available to choose from and told us they were all pretty much the same. So we picked the one on the top floor where we had a nice view of the townhouses across the street and of the sunset. The room was a bit chilly to me when we first arrived and it didn't seem to warm up for about 6 hours even though I had the heat set as high as it would go. This may have simply been due to the fact that it was a large room which took a while to heat up. Thankfully once the room finally did get warm it stayed that way and it was very comfortable.

They have an indoor pool but we didn't have time to use it. However we did use the Data Center downstairs which is a room with two computers and free internet access. This came in very handy since I didn't bring my laptop. There is also a Fax machine and a printer in there to use at your leisure. I found this to be one of the best features of the hotel. They also have a laundry room for guests which I did not use. However I did see a couple of other guests in there. I believe it is free to wash and dry your clothes. That's a nice touch.

Full Continental Breakfast offered downstairs in the morning. Cereal, Eggs, Pancakes, Yogurt, Bagels, Fruit etc.... I loaded up a tray and brought a bunch of food back upstairs with me. The room had a fridge so I just stocked it with whatever I did not finish eating.

The hotel offers a free USA Today Newspaper on weekday mornings. They are supposed to deliver it to your room. At least that is what it says in the Hotel Directory located in the desk. However on the Monday Morning I was there no Newspaper came. I had to go downstairs to get it. They are stacked right next to the Breakfast Bar, so it wasn't any big deal to get it although I was looking forward to it just being outside my door when I woke up.

The maid service seems to start early. My girlfriend had left and accidently knocked the "Do Not Disturb" sign off the door. So the maid knocked on the door at 9:30AM. This was a little to early for me. It wasn't her fault though. Just be warned that the maids do start work early. They also don't appear to speak English. I had a question for one of them and she responded with a "No Comprende'". So keep that in mind if you need help with anything. You'll want to call the front desk instead.

My overall impression is that this is definitely a Hotel I would stay at again. I really enjoyed this place. I took a bunch of pics of my room while there, so enjoy them. I found my visit quiet and relaxing. I give The Wingate Inn Stafford 4 out of 5 stars.

“Very pleased, but . . .”

Wingate Inn Stafford

We chose this hotel because it was rated number one on TripAdvisor when we were looking for accommodation in Stafford. We were visiting friends in the area and stayed for eight nights. The hotel was centrally located and easy to find (good directions provided on the hotel website). Our room was at the back of the hotel on the third floor, and had a nice view over some houses and a wooded area. The room was well furnished and had a safe and a fridge which were useful. The bathroom was stocked with a nice selection of complimentary toiletries. The room and the hotel were very clean and quiet.

We were very pleased with our stay, just a few minor points:

* the rooms were cleaned quite early in the morning - remember to put out your Do Not Disturb sign!

* swimming pool was disappointing - very small and definitely not for swimming lengths!

* complimentary breakfast wasn't great - better to go across the road to Panera

Overall we were very happy, would recommend the hotel and found it good value (but skip the breakfast!).

“What a great discovery”

Wingate Inn Stafford

On a recent trip back east we stayed at Wingate Inns in both Harrisburg, PA and Stafford,VA. We had not stayed with this chain of hotels before and based our choice on reviews we read on tripadvisor for some of their other sites. We were so pleased. Both Inns were easy to find, clean, quiet, polite staff and my favorite, FREE LAUNDRY facilities! ( you can purchase the detergent from a dispenser). What a treat to go home with clean clothes. Also, I must add their idea of a free continental breakfast is not a stale bagel. They have about a half dozen gourmet coffees, a make-your-own waffle bar, slow cookers filled with scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal and sausage gravy for the warm biscuits, fresh fruit and more. My family has decided to seek this chain of hotels out when we travel. I would highly recommend either of these locations.

The best place to stay in Stafford. The newest hotel, rooms are nice for this type of hotel. Free internet, clean rooms and bathrooms, breakfast, and cookies at night. Close to shopping and good places to eat. All hotels in Stafford are like a Holiday Inn Express, nothing fancy...but this is the best option. Make reservations early, it books up quickly.
