I stayed here for two nights as part of a road trip through the Shenandoah Valley. Unfortunately, the innkeepers were on vacation, so my dealings were with a nice inn-sitting couple. This inn is made up of several buildings, which I knew beforehand. What I didn't know was how far some of them are from the common & breakfast area. My "house" was the furthes away, and up a very steep hill and or hillside steps. On very hot days, that climb mde me instantly break into a sweat.
My room was a less expensive one, and really did not have the charm normally found in B&B's. I chose this one mostly because I would be allowed to smoke outside on the porch and in several other outdoor tabled areas. That was nice, but I had really hoped for a wireless signal for my laptop, and could never find anything strong enough. Maybe in some of the other houses in the "compound" though. The substitute innkeepers knew nothing about this issue, but maybe the real owners could have directed me to a suitable location. But I was hoping for something available in my room. However, it did not have a desk or any other available surface to even use, and very few outlets in which to even plug in the computer.
The breakfasts were very good and hearty. Being far from my room/house location, it was sort of a pain, and on rainy or cold days, would have been downright unpleasant. And because of one-way streets, even driving down to the breakfast location was difficult and round-about due to many one-way streets.
Overall - clean, lovely and thick towels, nice Caswell-Massey toiletries, good breakfasts. And the overall location was very convenient to walk around the historic area. But... didn't like the room's decor, or the distance between room and main area.
