A wonderful peaceful location, high in the mountains just off the Skyline Drive. Our view of the woodland valley below was fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed having our own log burning open fire in the evenings when the sun had gone down. We were treated at breakfast, not only to excellent food, but also entertained by the varied wildlife on view through the glass wall of the breakfast room. The Inn-keepers made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. We hope to be able to return.

“Wonderfully peaceful”

Sugar Tree Inn

13 Apr 2008

Everything was wonderful about this propery: located near Crabtree Falls and the Blue Ridge Parkway (near Humpback Rocks), hiking was near. Between the towns of Lexington and Staunton, there were plenty of things to see: Old Mills with wonderful preserves and flours and a wonderful yarn shop on a farm (with a peacock!).

The breakfast here were fabulous: well balanced and plentiful. Everything was freshly made. We stayed at the Cabin, and it backs to the woods. A family of deer come calling at supper time, and woodpeckers can be seen and heard. the propery has its own waterall.

If you need to watch TV bring your DVD's as reception in the rooms is poor; they do have a full video library . This isn't for TV: this is for outdoors. You'll never be sorry you came. The hosts are wonderful and make you feel comfortable.

Words can't express the excellent service and sense of family you get when you walk through the doors of the Sugar Tree Inn outside Steele's Tavern, VA. Innkeepers, Jeff and Becky Chanter, work their magic on a daily basis. They are welcoming over the phone, welcome you into their Inn with open arms, prepare wonderful dinners on Thurs, Fri, and Sat nights and make breakfasts that give one the stamina to walk the trails around the property or down the road at Crabtree Falls.

They are also always bringing great events to the Inn that entice visitors to come back again and again. One of these includes their wine tasting weekends which they sponsor in conjunction with Veritas winery in Afton, VA. These events are NOT to be missed!

My husband and I are now dear friends with the Chanter family and look forward to staying with them at least twice a year.

The website doesn't do the Inn justice enough. This was our second visit . The atmosphere at the inn is wonderful and the hosts even more so. The food is excellent and more than you could imagine. Breakfast will last you all day. The bed was very comfortable and doesn't encourage you to want to move in the morning. The location is beautiful and the surrounding amenities countless. We will definately be going back This is true escape at its best.

“Beautiful Mountain Retreat”

Sugar Tree Inn

19 Feb 2008

We decided to drive far away from NYC and the hectic life and found this place on http://www.selectregistry.com/

We got to relax and discover a different part of this country that we had never seen before. Jeff & Becky were really nice and we felt so relaxed. The food was delicious. Loved the juicy tender Pork chops for dinner and the Oatmeal for breakfast was out of this world. We tried but Becky never gave the special recipe of her delicious oatmeal out. hehe

The room was warm and had a fireplace. This place is located in the mountains and is surrounded by thick woods and tall trees. And if you are lucky you can see a deer or two. The view from the front porch for the main lodge is breathtaking. You can see the mountain range till the horizon especially around sunset. The approach road to the lodge is also fun. There is a wooden bridge and a small water fall/ stream flowing under it.

Thanks to Jeff, we got a chance to explore the country and the mountains. the Blue Ridge parkway was closed when we were there.. but Jeff sensed that we were the adventure type and told us about this drit/mud road that would take us through the mountains to the Blue Ridge Pig for some mouth watering delicious BBQ. And we totally pigged out at this place.

Come summer we are totally going back to Sugar Tree Inn!!
