This was our second visit to the Foster Harris house. Last year, we stayed in the Compton Room during a visit for dinner at the Inn at Little Washington. We loved the room and thought the house was perfect: upscale, modern, and clean, while also comfortable and cozy. The multi-course breakfast is truly awesome. Diane and her husband are gracious and friendly but leave you alone. Since there are only a handful of other rooms, the rooms feel more private than at other B&Bs.
We loved it so much that we recently rented the entire house for our families, in conjunction with a wedding dinner at the Inn at Little Washington. Now I've seen all the rooms and can attest that they are all wonderful and so unique. Our families loved their stay just as much as we did last year.
Having now ALSO stayed at the Inn at Little Washington, I believe Foster Harris is almost as great and an excellent value -- I would honestly stay here than at the Inn again. Foster Harris is clearly not "5-star" or "5-diamond," but it's more relaxed with almost as many amenities, and the breakfast included in the rate is far better and more substantial than the Inn's "included" breakfast (breakfast entrees at the Inn cost $25).
The Foster Harris House has exceeded my expectations twice now. If you plan to have dinner at the Inn at Little Washington yet want a terrific, more reasonably-priced place to stay, Foster Harris is far and away the best choice.
