Dinner at Trellis on Dec 13, 06. Location is great but food was very, very disappointing. Local business friends had told us that this was not a good choice so we were warned. Husband would rate as terrible and he had one of the specials. I had chicken breasts that were very dry. Service was ok but overall something has happened to the food.

This our favorite restaurant anywhere. I am stunned that there are any bad reviews. The food is absolutely fantastic. Only made from fresh ingredients. Even their ice cream is homemade. They use so many different ingredients that you'll never see anywhere else (like fiddlehead ferns). The menu changes every day or two. The soups are great. We always get them. As for the review that said the cheesecake main dish was too small. We always look forward to getting the cheesecake. It's their version of quiche. There's no crust and it uses cream cheese and it is fantastic. It's a small lunch not a main dinner. You get a salad and several breads (made fresh) with it. Since we also order a bowl of soup it certainly fills us up. If you're looking for a steak dinner, well, this isn't it (but they do have steaks). We were in Williamsburg 10 days and ate 8 lunches and 3 dinners there. We've done this for many years and will continue to. It's the best. We've talked several friends into eating there and they always love it. One friend is 6' tall and had the cheesecake and it was enough for him for lunch. They have many other wonderful foods. Honestly, it's the best. I don't understand the bad experiences had by several reviewers. Give them another chance.

This is a world class restaurant! The great thing about it is they try to feature local produce and wines! Something that more places around the country should do.

We ate lunch at the Trellis and I had their specialty "Cheesecake" which is actually more of a quiche. It was Salmon & Herb but there was very little if any salmon. The fresh bread that came with it was good and the salad that was served with it came with barely any dressing. The portions were TINY for a $11.95 lunch platter. My husband's burger was about 3" in diameter although it was very tasty. Will not go back because of portion size vs. price (and we are thin people who do not need a lot of food to be satisfied).
