We had Trellis recommended to us by a friend who travels to Williamsburg frquently, so we booked it with high hopes. The venue is pleasant enough, but it seems to be a restaurant that is a victim of its own success. The anchovy/romaine salad was fine if a bit underdressed, and though we did receive the extra dressing we requested, it arrived almost as we were finishing the salad. We were informed by our waitress that our entrees might be delayed since the kitchen was still adapting itself to the new spring menu, so we were please when they arrived promptly. However, the grilled mustard crusted chicken tasted as if it had been precooked and then warmed. The chicken was not particularly hot and it was dry and tasteless. The other chicken dish was fine, if undistinguished. If you're looking for a restaurant in Merchant Square, The Fat Canary across the square is infinitely better. Trellis was just not very good.
