“Staff friendly, considerate manager reduced my bill to compensate for problems”

The staff and the manager were very nice. Despite the trouble I would stay at this hotel again. The rumor was that some guests on the 2nd or 3rd floor were setting off fire crackers and it triggered the fire alarm, around 1AM. Fire trucks, police cars and their sirens; along with a blaring fire alarm were present for over an hour. In the morning the clerk allowed a late check out and the manager adjusted my bill.

I stayed here in February for $58.00 on a Monday. Room was okay, although I was waaaaaay down the hall alone (unsafe but after 2 previous rooms there had broken t.v. and a toilet issue, everything worked in this one AND try to find a room a DOG hasn't been allowed in.....difficult.). The next morning when I checked out, I asked the friendly desk clerk if the rate would be the same as I may come back that evening to check in again and she said "of course, yes". When I came back that night to check in, I didn't even look at the billing. Although I asked for the same room, they put me in a different room - don't ask me why, but whatever. The next morning when I went to check out, they had charged me $69.00! NOT the same $58 rate they said they would. When I explained this to Mrs. Patel the desk clerk she gave me such a hassle and rudely stated "no no no no no nooooo". WHAT? Can you say NO one more time because I just didn't hear you say it enough. She said they put me in a "higher priced room" and the rate was $69 - I argued "why put me in a higher priced room when I asked for the very same room?" So I actually stood there until they corrected my billing. I HATED doing that, but come on. Since there are plenty of motels in town, I won't stay there again and I am in Winchester 6 times A YEAR. Will I stay there again? no no n no noooooo. Get your price in writing here BEFORE you check in.

“Beware of billing practice I”

The room was ok but the billing process left something to be desired. My wife and I made reservations through cheap tickets and when we checked in I gave the confirm number and the person at the desk charged us 61$ and change for the room. Being a newby at using on line booking I thought that was the program. When the bank statement came several weeks later there was the cherge for the room but also a charge from cheap tickets for 80 some $. I contacted cheap tickets and spoke to several people with thick accents( sounded like Indian). After many minutes I was finally told that the person who had checked us in was a new emplyee and didn't know the correct procedure. I was also told that the motel would credit our bank account for the 61$ which never has taken place. I have not pursued the issue any further, chocking the whole thing up as a learning experience.

The thing that really makes me wonder is why the quoted price from cheap tickets and the actual check in price were at such odds.

Again, the room was ok but for 141$ in WInchester it should have been a suite.

Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Two GREAT stays on two separate trips”

27 Aug 2007

I had two occasions to be traveling up on I-81 in Winchester this August. The first time, I was with my son and his friend, and we found a coupon for the Travelodge in the highway coupon books you find at the rest areas. The rate was VERY reasonable, so we gave it a try. We found the room to be very clean and the beds comfy! I needed to have wi-fi, and this place offered it free...YAY!! All the entrances are INSIDE, which keeps the noise level down, and we had a quiet night's sleep. We overslept for the breakfast, but I was able to sample it on my second stay.

My second stay was 2 weeks later when hubby & I were on our way to PA for a vacation. Based on my first experience with this Travelodge, I recommended this to hubby, and again, we got the coupon from the coupon books at the rest areas. This time, we brought out small, aging dog, and as they are PET FRIENDLY, they gave us a room on the ground floor. Again, I used the wi-fi. I thought breakfast was wonderful!!! Hot or cold cereal, biscuits and gravy, hard boiled eggs, toast or waffles, bananas, yogurt, coffee, milk and juices...what more could you expect for free and at the low rate from the coupon??? Our sleep was restful and quiet.

On both visits, I found the staff very friendly and helpful!! This is not a "high scale" luxury hotel, but it is GREAT for the average traveler, and I would highly recommend it to any traveler...and don't forget to stop at the rest areas for those coupon books!!

We were traveling I-81 and stopped at the Travelodge for one night. It was wonderful. I grew up stopping at the hotel on family trips and so we decided to see how it was now.

First of all the location is wonderful! Right off I-81 and lots of great places to grab dinner. Plus you have a microwave and fridge in your room for leftovers! There is also a mall on this exit.

Second, FREE INTERNET - WOOHOO!

Third, the room was very, very clean and the bed was comfy. Nice furniture and a very clean bathroom!

Additionally, the continental breakfast was excellent! Fruit and everything!

Great place to stay when you are traveling I-81.
