The room was not clean and the bed and pillows were not comfortable. The Air Conditioner made a very loud rattling sound that kept me awake all night. And finally, I went to get some breakfast in the lobby (free continental). I was walking with my plate back to my room and was told by an employee that I was not allowed to take the food out of the lobby. I told him that was weird- that I didnt want to sit by myself in there but preferred to eat in my room. He said- "That is the rules". I told him his "rules" were stupid and walked back inside the lobby and threw my food in trash and went to Mcdonalds.
Not a pleasant stay at all!

My family has stayed at this Winchester location many, many times over the last 20 years, and until recently we have never been dissatisfied. But it has been several years since we stayed there until this past December - when we were visiting my sister in Stephens City.

At this stay, a loud knock came on our door early morning and then a housekeeping person was just ready to access our room to enter to clean; my wife and I were not even up and out of bed. We had reserved and paid for a late check-out in advance for one night and housekeeping was interrupting our stay at about 9 a.m. Then, our son had stayed there last week because we had a close family member's funeral in Stephens City the next day, and in the early morning after, he and his guest received a loud knock and then an entry to their room demanding $22.00 for a phone bill. My son paid for his room upon check-in and knew he had an obligation to pay the phone bill upon check-out when he returned the key. The hotel employee would not leave their room until my son paid the $22 for the phone bill, and that employee was adamant and rude about it.

What kind of hotel has this become? How dissapointing to see a nationally- reputed hotel chain go downhill to these kind of tactics with honest, long-term customers.

Even worse, my husband communicated with Manager Brad Patel through fax, snail mail and voice mail to nicely lodge our complaints, but Mr. Patel never returned our calls or addressed our concerns.

Shoney's will never again be our hotel of choice when we travel, and we do travel quite often

We had a very crappy furnished room, the ice machines didn't work, no vending machines, no fitted bed sheets, no ashtrays. Need I continue? Get a better budget or go out of business and allow someone else to take over that knows how to run a Hotel.

I stay at this motel whenever I do track events at Summit Point and have been a customer about eleven times. With the club discount, the room rate is about $55 per night. The rooms are clean and well-maintained but not terribly fancy; however, I really don't expect much more for $55. The pool looks nice, but I've never used it. Geneva, the woman who runs the breakfast, is very friendly and a pleasure to talk to. Downsides? The parking lot is a bit small and limited for trailers, even though the Shoney's Restaurant has ample room. Also, there is often much nocturnal activity and, while it is probably innocent, it does make the wary guest stay on full alert. (I've never had any issues with break-ins or any other problems.) As a result, the place can be noisy, too, although it seems like the din subsides after 11:30. Finally, the front desk staff is professional on the phone but consistently distant, indifferent and chilly in person (remember, I've stayed there about a dozen times.) If there is one thing that should be changed, it is this aspect of the stay.
