I recently stayed three nights at the Cedar Suites in Yakima. Upon checking in, I was assigned a room on the first floor near the pop machine. Based on comments from other users, I asked to be moved so that I would not be disturbed by other guests that were buying pop or parking. Drew at the front desk was very helpful and was able to get me moved to a second story room.

I paid $90 per night for a room with a single queen bed. On a positive note, the room contained a small couch, coffee table, microwave, mini fridge, and hair dryer. On a negative note, the bed was hard and uncomfortable. In addition, the pillows and linens were old and threadbare.

A basic continental breakfast is served in the morning. I tried the waffles and eggs and came away unimpressed. During the evening, cookies are available. Through out the day, a limited selection of tea and coffee can be had.

The motel is conveniently located near downtown. The Convention Center, Target, are all within walking distance. You also have quick access to the major freeway in case you need to travel to other parts of the city.

Considering the limited options available, I would recommend the Cedar Suites. With that being said, I intend to try to book a room at the Hilton Garden Inn next time I have to visit Yakima because it is much newer and offers more amenities.

My original impression of this hotel wasn't as bad, other than that it was much smaller than I anticipated. Don't let the "Suites" fool you. Since they don't offer pictures on their website it's hard to tell. Our first stay here back in August was okay. Room was clean, breakfast was good, very hot outside but A.C. kept unit nice and cold. Free wireless internet that we could pick up not only from cedar suites but also the HoJo across the road.

However, this time our stay wasn't as nice. There were candy wrappers on the floor under the comforters. Crumbs on the floor between the hide-a-bed and bed. Dried toothpaste in the sink.

Another downside that applied both times, lack of places to eat at nearby if you are on foot with a 2 year old and no stroller. There is a subshop, and a cheapy deli inside of target. Outside of that I haven't found much.

If anyone knows of anything else, please post for other walkers.

The Cedars Suites in Yakima is an average motel. Rooms are small and cramped. Beds were not especially comfortable. Bathroom showed some wear and tear. We arrived late (1:30am) and the check in was prompt and courteous. The continental breakfast was above average. This is an average value for the rate that we paid.

This is a fairly ordinary motel close to the Yakima Convention Center but quite hard to find. It is behind the Howard Jonhson, but if you go to far you end up on the freeway. The motel itself is inexpensive, fairly comfortable, but had loud air conditioners.
