“Next time we're going to the HillTop House Hotel”

The "suite" that we stayed in (The Robin's Nest Suite) was nothing but an attic that had been dressed-up a little. The rate that we payed for the room ($183.15) was terribly over-priced.
We've stayed in much more luxurious hotels in the past and have paid less than we did for the attic. When we told the Inn Keepers that we weren't satisfied with the room, they told us that there were no other rooms available at that time. Later in the evening, when someone phoned in and cancelled their reservation, the Inn Keepers asked us if we were interested in switching rooms. We stated that we were interested. The Inn Keepers stated that we could have the room for $250........RIDICULOUS!!! What they should have done was just give us the room for the price that we already payed.
Also, if you do plan on staying at the Carriage Inn, please make sure that you are a Civil War buff. If you're not a Civil war buff, you may find it to be a little uncomfortable when you go down to eat your breakfast and you find General Ulysses Grant and his wife in the dining room waiting to "chat" with you while you attempt to eat your breakfast.

“Lovely b&b; delicious food”

The Carriage House Inn b&b was wonderful! Donn and Marie, the innkeepers, were so friendly and very interested in making our stay relaxing and comfortable. We arrived to a fresh baked peach cobbler and whipped cream. Yum! The house is full of very interesting history. Our room (Mary Rutherford) was large, pretty and comfortable. The fireplace looked lovely, but being almost 100 degrees outside we did not try it out. However, the A/C worked great (thank goodness). Breakfast was so good (cranberry muffins, sausage quiche and fruit cup) and filled us up so we never had lunch. There were always coffee, teas, hot chocolates available and a stocked fridge (juices and sodas). Donn and Marie obviously care a lot about their inn, and their guests. We will definitely return when we can and recommend it to anyone visiting Harper's Ferry/ Charles Town, WV area.

Found this place on trip advisor while looking for a place to stay around the Harpers Ferry area. It had great reviews , so decided to check it out. This is a great B&B! It really offers it all. It combines all the modern ammenities of a hotel like private bath,tv/vcr, on site staff with the charm and feel of a civil war home. The innkeepers really make you feel at home and make you feel like it's your home for the night. Breakfast is not at a set time although they do ask you what time you would like it ready. They also ask you if there is anything you don't eat. On arrival, was some amazing cheesecake waiting for us. Also there is a refrigorator with drinks, that is open all the time. Plenty of books to read and vcr tapes. The rooms are very comfy and well stocked, We were in the Sunrise room, the bed seemed really firm to us but we slept great so no complaints. I did go sit on all the beds in all the rooms and the matteresses felt equally firm except the Mary Rutherford Room, that matteress seemed softer. Charles Town is also a cute little town to explore with lots of history, my only complaint is they roll the sidewalks up early. If your looking for a great place to stay that's not a cookie cutter experience ,this really has it all

We have stayed at several BandBs across the country, I can truly compliment Donn and Marie on a nice job with all aspects of the B and B experience. We had almost booked a room at the Bavarian Inn at Shepherdstown, however after having lunch there I can say without hesitation you would have a much more personable experience at the Carriage Inn.

My husband and I had the great pleasure of staying at a wonderful bed and breakfast in Charles Town, West Virginia. If you love history, and love being pampered, then you will love The Carriage Inn. Upon arrival at the bed and breakfast we were met by two wonderful people, Marie and Donn Davis. They are the owners of The Carriage Inn. Marie and Donn are very personable and down to earth people.

The time spent at The Carriage Inn was very enjoyable. The accommodations are very comfortable. The house overflows with history - built in 1836, the Inn was the site of a meeting between Ulysses Grant and General Sheridan. The rooms maintain the history of house while offering modern conveniences - color TV/VCR, alarm clocks, central air conditioning and private baths with modern fixtures. Breakfast was fantastic both mornings we were there. Soft drinks, coffee and tea are available all day, and each evening brings a home made baked treat.

My husband and I had a great time at The Carriage Inn. We would encourage anyone interested in coming to Charles Town to stay at The Carriage Inn.
