The Carriage Inn is the first B&B that I have stayed at. I can only hope that others are as interesting and friendly. Owners Donn and Marie are perfectly delightful and immediately made us feel at home. The rooms are clean, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The breakfast was sweet (orange french toast) but very good. The civil war connection (the house was built in 1836 and was the location of a meeting between Grant and Sheridan) added a interesting element. Be sure to give the Carriage Inn a try. You won't be disappointed.

Have stayed in many, the Carriage Inn was the best. New owners are fantastic. Room and food were exceptional. Copper Beech Suite was well worth the rate.

I stayed here in May 2004 while touring local Civil War battlefields. This is a pre-Civil War Federal style building with a large front porch added to it. It would be hard to go back to a hotel again after staying here. Everything was very clean and it felt like I was staying in my own home. The grounds were nice. The owners were very friendly and served a good breakfast in the morning. You can walk to downtown Charles Town from here to the restaurants or just tour around. This B&B is not far from the racetrack and a little drive to Harper's Ferry. We also found it close enough to Antietam Battlefield (Sharpsburg, MD) about 45 minutes through the country.
