Traveling through WV on a whim, we were pleased to find a room. It was a place to lay our heads - and they had a pool! The room was a bit smelly - and the sink stopper was not working properly. The bathroom was clean. The pool is in a very large building prone to echo - so the energetic game of Marco Polo that was going on was enough to make our ears bleed. The quarter operated dryer didn't work, but the morning staff credited the money I had deposited with no questions asked. The evening staff was also very pleasant, efficient and very very kind. The facilities were a bit outdated. If you want something newer stay at the Super 8.

I had reservations for a week's stay at the Travelodge in Elkins, West Virginia. Mid week a huge water stain and sagging ceiling occurred in the tub side of the bathroom. I reported it that evening and suggested that I move to another room. By the next morning a portion of the ceiling had fallen on the floor and the light fixture was hanging by the wires. A "repair person" came in to fix it while I was out. A shoddy job is what resulted. I was not switched to another room and the manager made no attempt to check what was going on or if I was satified or dissatisfied. By the second day after the repair, the ceiling began sagging again and a steady stream of water was dripping from the ceiling directly onto the toilet necessitating covering your head with towels while using the toilet!! The next day the ceiling fell in again, thankfully checkout day for me - - NEVER to return nor to stay in another Travelodge!! I might add Elkins is a very small town. There was a major festival in town that week and moving to a different local motel was not an option.
