Driving back to Upstate NY from the beautiful Shenandoah Valley / Blue Ridge Mountains, my wife and I spent a night here. We paid only $65, so we weren't expecting a lot. And sure enough, while it was fine for a cheap place to crash for the night, this weird, slightly spooky hotel doesn't live up to Quality Inn standards.
The place is huge and rambling, with endless dark dingy hallways. The building seems to have started out as an outside-entry motel with outdoor pool which was then covered and converted to an inside-entry hotel. The carpet, paint, and fixtures looked dirty, shabby, and in desparate need of replacement. Our room wasn't bad, with fairly new furniture. However, bedspread was very old and disgusting and the "view" from the window was 90% wall and 10% pool. The following morning, our room grew very noisy with kids screaming in the pool area.
The large indoor pool seemed clean and worked just fine. However, it's totally overrun with young children. The jacuzzi is a joke - barely enough room for 2 people to stand - I'm not kidding.
All in all, there are better inexpensive choices in this area. Try the Comfort Inn.
