The Village Green Lodge is wonderful! We have gone up to Door County many times but have never stayed at this property. However, recently we wanted to try something new and decided upon the Village Green Lodge because it was #1 on Trip Advisor. We loved it!

First of all, the innkeepers are wonderful people---very welcoming and friendly. You feel more like you are staying with friends than that you are a guest with a hotel room.

The little inn is very quiet, tucked into woods, but still in the middle of Ephraim. It is just a short walk to the bay with its famous sunsets and to restaurants and the historic Wilson's Ice Cream parlour.

Sue's breakfasts are truly amazing! Her guests persuaded her to publish a cookbook and by the end of the week, I had to have it. There was something different and interesting every single day. My husband needed a cholesterol-free diet, and every day she discreetly fixed him something similar but meeting his special needs. She also puts out a tea at 3:00 with fresh-baked goodies.

The pool area is pretty with gardens all around and a great deck area with tables and umbrellas. You never had to scurry to find a deck chair either.

We got one of the suite rooms and it was gorgeous with comfortable places to sit, a kitchenette, a big whirlpool tub with lavendar salts provided, and a fireplace. There was a patio deck facing the woods and we had our dinner out there a couple of nights.

Lots of birds around....and different places to sit outside in the gardens including picnic tables in the woods and a hammock.

With the hospitality, the gathering room in the lodge where we met new friends, the great food, the comfortable room, and the whole ambiance of historical Ephraim and Door County, we will definitely be back to the Village Green Lodge!

By the way, Door County has many wonderful restaurants (try Greenwood Supper Club, the new Log Den, and Villagio's) as well as lots of culture (we saw the Peking Acrobats at the Door Co. Auditorium, a play at Peninsula Players, and went to the Steel Pan Caribbean night at Birch Creek). Coupled with great shopping and lots of activities, you can't go wrong to spend a week in Door County, WI!

I just signed up for Trip Advisor with the sole purpose of telling people how pleased my wife and I were with the Village Green Lodge. For some background, we are in our 20's and married without children. The owner/operators could not have been more hospitable. The location of the hotel is perfect. We had a view of Eagle Harbor from our room. But the lodge is located nicely about 150 yards from the waters edge, close enough to walk anywhere in town but also a little setback from State Road 42 so the only thing you here are all of the surrounding wildlife and not all the cars. I would guess about half of the rooms have views of the harbor. One thing to note about eagle harbor is that no lodges are on the water, State Road 42 is on the water. So it goes, water-grassy area-road then lodging. We stayed in a regular room with a King bed. The room was very spacious and the cleanest hotel room I'd been to in a while. The bed was nice and comfortable but not as good as some upscale hotels like the Westin. The bathroom was super clean and the shower was awesome, easy to adjust the temperature and great pressure. The towels were nice and clean but again like the bed were not top of the line, again no complaints. Then came breakfast. AWESOME. It was the perfect way to fuel up for a long day in Peninsula State Park. Fresh fruit, great breads, and a tasty French toast bake among other things. We spent the whole day out and about in the state park 3 minutes away, and when we came home the room had been cleaned wonderfully. Steve and Sue love the area and were eager to give us ideas of restaurants and wineries. We were there two nights. Our first trip to Door County and Ephraim was one to remember and we WILL be back and when we come back we will undoubtedly stay at the Village Green Lodge.

We have stayed at the Village Green at least once per year for all of the 12 years Sue and Steve have owned the property. We have thoroughly enjoyed each visit with the quality of both the room (cleanliness and decorating) and the very exceptional breakfasts, always consistent.

As hosts, Sue and Steve are very friendly and present a warm, cozy atmosphere that is conducive to a relaxing experience.

Highly recommended.

I looked into the community of Ephraim based on a reccomendation from my boss, and am I ever glad I did. I found the Village Green Lodge through the Door County Tourism site and found my way to their web site. Between the reviews here on TripAdvisor and speaking to my best friend (his parents have been coming here for 10+ years) I was sold.

This was our first trip to Door County and was a very pleasant off-season experience. Not a lot was open but our hosts at Village Green were able to direct us towards several points of interest that were open and several good places to eat.

We arrived late on Friday night and our hostess Sue was waiting up for us and greeted us at the door. She showed us to our room where fresh baked cookies awaited, and offered to bring breakfast up to our room in case we wanted to sleep in due to our late arrival. We rented one of the Suites and I highly reccomend it for the few extra dollars, but call ahead as there are only 2 of this type of room. Sue helped us find a restaurant that was open late, (Sonny's Pizzeria about 5 minutes away) and gave us reccomendations for the rest of our trip. Sonny's had great Italian food, and probably the best restaurant spaghetti I can remember having.

The room itself was very cozy with a gas fireplace, jacuzzi tub, sitting area, dining area, king size bed, and mini-kitchenette area with microwave, mini-fridge and sink. I think my wife and I both said "Wow" as we were shown in. The hotel web site is nice and well done, however the photos found on the hotel site still did not do it justice. This felt like a small studio apartment that would easily accomodate a week-long stay, too bad we only had the weekend to take in this great community and great hotel.

We met Steve the next morning when he delivered breakfast up to our room, and he was just as gracious a host as his lovely wife. We joined the other guests Sunday morning for the breakfast buffet in the lodge and were treated to Steve's scrambled eggs, sausage links, blueberry bread pudding, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, milk, cofee, and lots of other goodies. Overall this will stick in my mind as one of our more memorable anniversaries thanks to Steve and Sue and definitely one of our better traveling experiences overall. We had a great time, and will return.
