A nice park, with adequate bathrooms, restaurants and diversions. The location is great, with an excellent view of Lake Michigan. On the other hand, the price of beer and food has gone way up, and the entertainment is there to cater to baby boomers with very little for someone between 12 and 40, regardless of the festival.
Every year ticket prices increase (now about $16), as do beer prices (about $6.00 for a watered down small plastic cup of local beer.) Want an actual Irish beer at Irishfest? Well, too bad, you can't get it Want a German beer at Germanfest? Well, too bad, again you can't get it. You can get some cute regional diluted mess that they'll dress up with an ethnic name, however. Cute, and profitable!
There is one bright spot: there are some terrific views, and with the weather right, there is no better place to be. Also, for the voyeurs reading this, it's the only location on the planet where you can watch someone take 15 minutes to change the garbage bag in a waste container, which to the untrained eye would appear to be a 30 second job.
