My girlfriend and I had been gradually making our way through the Racine restaurants since moving there over a year ago. We'd heard about Wave's, but somehow never made it there until this spring...why oh why had we waited. It quickly rose to the top of our list. Yes it's small, but maybe that's the charm of the place. The food is far from "regular" restaurant cuisine. It is prepared by a chef who happens to be the brother of the owner, Mike. They may co-own the place. Both are quite visible and are very involved in the daily operation. As stated, it's obvious much thought has gone into the menu and literally every meal to date has been extremely satisfacory. Their staff is always busy and running through the small maze of tables, but that simply adds to the atmosphere. Yes, the smoke from the bar patrons can be distracting to the non-smokers, but they do seem to be coming back and the place is rarely empty...(make reervations). I believe a smoke free atmosphere is on the horizon. Overall, as a Racine patron, this is my #1 spot for food, price, and atmosphere. Sign up to be one of their VIP's and every time you eat there, they'll kickback 5% of your bill into an account that you can use for future dinners.

I had a salad and a shrimp appetizer, my husband had a salad and a chorizo and shrimp entree. My shrimp was overcooked and rubbery. My husband's was great. They had some interesting salad dressings: cucumber & chive, flavored oil & vinegar. They have 3 different ages of Balvenie single malt scotch, plus a few other single malt choices.
I would recommend Waves as an ok restaurant within walking distance of the Radisson Harbourwalk. The waitresses were nice and attentive. It was crowded - I think it has 3 booths, 5 tables, and bar seats in a small space. There was a group of 7 at the table next to us. There were guest at 2 booths, 3 bar seats, and one other table.
Closed Mondays.

We have been apprehensive, with reason, about dining in Racine and usually bring our own cooler of groceries for the weekend. We finally stopped in at this tiny little place close to the harbor to pick up a menu. The friendly bartender was happy to accommodate and in response to our request for a table, pointed out the one that would be open. Not quite ready to eat dinner before 5 pm, we wandered back in for a very late lunch on Sunday. Somehow this tiny little kitchen manages to turn out imaginative and excellent plates of food. We shared the walleye fingers and the fresh fish cakes. They arrived quickly, tasted very good-and hot- and were presented with flair. Given the execution of these appetizer dishes, I would happily opt for the more ambitious and pricey entrees next time. The only negative is the smoking. The new bartender walked in for her shift with a lit cigarette. In principal, I don't object, but given the small size of this restaurant, it is hard to get away from the smoke.

We dined Sunday night at Waves, and were completely surprised with the selection and quality of the food here.
The place looks like pizza and beer, maybe hot wings, but the food truly was impressive.
The specials were completely unexpected, including several fresh seafood selections.

The salads, appetizers, and entrée’s all greatly exceeded our expectations.

Overlook the ambience, and enjoy the food, and selection.

Having been told about Wave,s several years ago, began going there for lunch and dinner. The chef and one of the owners has had long experience in food service and in a small kitchen, turns out a wonderful product. Waves' meals are always good and often exceed all expectations. Service is also good with one waiter named Mike who is outstanding and who makes you feel like a guest in his home. The other staff members are also very good. It is a small place with a bar along one wall and booths and tables seating about 34. From the outside, it looks like an average local bar but once inside it is transformed into a smart little supper clubwith candles onthe tables and linen table covers and napkins. The menu is extensive with nightly specials which feature fresh fish, beef and greens. The bread is made rightin thekitchen as are the large number of desserts. One does not think of Racine as a place to dine but Waves is an exception. Lunches are very good as is the Sunday Brunch and it is simply a fine place to dine. By Wisconsin standards, prices may seem a little high but the food is fresh, home made and served in ample portions. No one should leave this place hungry and displeased. Reservations are best at dinner time and it is a very busy place on weekends but no one is rushed and if the kitchen should be backed up, it is worth the reasonable wait since the food is just that good. Suggestion to anyone wanting dinner, ask if Steve (owner) and Bonnie are cooking since their product is the very best anyone can ever expect. This is not to say that the other kitchen staff is not fine, since they are, it is simply that these two folks are at the top of the tree.
