If one word could summarize this lodge it would be CLEAN. We are in our last day of a one week trip and I wanted to write this while things were fresh. The lodge is located on Hwy-57, walking distance to the Piggly Wiggly and a very nice Country Walks shops area (a very nice, well landscaped, two level unique shops area). There is a nearby Pharmacy, again walking distance, and mini-golf at the large Pirate's Cove center, with go-carting. All that is over the hill so-to-speak so none of that is seen or heard from the lodge. Where the lodge is located, the road/area is very quiet and rural.
The Lodge rooms (we had a 1-room bedroom suite) are clean, new, with a higher ceiling (not vaulted), recessed and table lighting, and contain a very well equiped kitchen. A window air conditioner is on the wall that shares the deck, but the bedroom doesn't benefit from that unit, making it stuffy. We highly recommend a personal fan for the bedroom to keep the air moving. The rooms are well lit, have a nice private wood patio with wood chairs, have a large double-style jacuzzi brand tub in the bedroom, have a little table in the bedroom (my wife did her quilting there), gas fireplace with fixed glass front, and TV's in both rooms. In my opinion, the TV in the living room, above the fireplace, is too high up and a bit small. A combo DVD/VHS unit is included. The unit I was in had a bad cable from that unit and the TV and I had to wiggle it to get a clear picture. You have full cable TV with most channels. The wireless Internet is pretty good (I'm an IT director), very fast, and the signals for me were in the "low" range, and did disconnect a few times...but I was able to maintain very workable Internet signals for 99% of my stay. It works on the deck just fine too.
The lobby has a quaint Scandinavian theme, overlooking the large indoor pool area. The indoor pool, with an adjacent kiddie pool, is a major selling point of this lodge, if you have children. Rain or shine, you're swimming. The outdoor pool and area is landscaped well and the pool water was very clean and clear. The indoor pool, for the entire week we were there, was cloudy. Not sure what that was about, but perhaps a chemical imbalance.. The sauna is nice.
The Lodge has a very nice, two machine (each) laundry, again very clean. In fact, throughout the lodge (and it's not small) I had to work hard to find anything worn out or dirty. This place was Clean!
The kitchen: we used it daily and used the oven as well. The overhead microwave was new and modern, the fridge, again spotless, was normal home size. The counter top in the kitchen is very large and nice to have. A dining room table tops it all off and there are even expansion leafs in the closet for it.
The bathroom was so clean and the shower bright and very nice. The water pressure was hard, and you have a double-sink with plenty of counter space.
Touring: Fish Creek has some great tourist shops, a good coffee cafe (Blue Horse Bistro). Sister Bay has Al Johnson's restaurant, although expensive, the breakfast is excellent. See the goats on the grass roof. Pennisula State Park is a gem for camping, hikes and biking.
Pros: clean, full-featured, wireless Internet, great for couples, families and conferences. Kitchen is well equiped with a large counter. Close to Sister Bay shopping. Quiet rooms, wide hallways that are well lit. Excellent indoor and outdoor pool and patio areas.
Cons: No view of the lake, stuffy air in bedroom, TV in living room is too high and screen too small. In winter, no most rooms have no sun entering patio due to design.
