First I'd like to say, you will never meet nicer people than the owners & proprietors, Judy and John. Judy is a spectacular cook and John plays their grand piano every morning. When you walk in, you realize you are a guest in their home. The whole place is beautiful.
The guest rooms are very small, but livable. Everything is very clean. The queen sized beds are comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets and down comforters. Bathrooms are very small with very small shower stalls. Be warned, there is little to no cell phone reception in this area and there are no phones in the guest rooms so if communication with others in area or other hotels is important, this may not be a good choice.
I stayed two nights with my mother. We were visiting Door County for my best friend's wedding. We were self conscious about the amount of noise we were making as rooms upstairs are close together and not super private. I fear we may have disturbed other guests. The first night we were so exhausted from our drive from Chicago that we missed breakfast served promptly at 8:30 am--something I regret because the breakfast the second morning was just outstanding--delicious fresh coffee cake, fruit, juice, coffee, ham & egg strata and toast. It was really nice chatting with the other guests around the table.
There are not TVs or refrigerators in the rooms, but there is a TV in a common area upstairs and a fridge in the hall where you can store food if you need to.
The room rate is an extremely good value. If you are the type who is early to rise and not spend much time in your hotel, this is definitely the place for you. If you prefer a lot of space and a private atmosphere this may not be the best choice.
Also, a previous reviewer talks about a jacuzzi in their gazebo in the back. Judy has been trying to get this corrected on Trip Advisor--there is no jacuzzi. But the gazebo, and the gardens and outdoor seating areas, are beautiful and lovingly attended. Beautiful flowers, plants, fountains, and small holiday lights complete the look. I cannot praise the owners enough for the care they take with every detail of their home.
I am glad we stayed at the Wooden Heart Inn.
