We stayed at this hotel with my two children ages 4 and 8. I would say I selected it on availabity due to last minute plans and some of the positive comments made on this site. However, I was quite disappointed. We obviously got the old end of the hotel as we had booked two double beds because that was all that was left. When we went to the room, the smell was horrible !!! It smelled like either someone had died in the room and they used nilodor to cover the smell or something had spilled on the carpet and had gone rancid!!! I called the front desk and they had housekeeping address the problem right away. Needless to say, the ozone machine that they used for the room did not work and we were upgraded to a room on the same side of the hotel, much larger room minus the smell. The hotel staff were quite accomodating and agreed there was a smell. Funny enough during the evening they had re-booked someone else into the same room with the horrible smell, which in my opinion is not good customer service.
The overall ambiance is okay, but the old side of the hotel is just that, old. I did not see the newer rooms and can not comment on same. I am also assuming that all hotels in the area do not have a cancellation policy. The Copa basically put through one night on your credit card as soon as you make the reservation, I did not like that aspect. The positives of this hotel, is they provide the tickets to the Waterpark, which is okay for smaller kids and is a lower end park in comparison to the others. I also had tickets to the water ski show but had to pay to upgrade for seats rather than benches. Oh as well I would not have bathed in the bathtub in the upgraded room, I have attached a photo, needs a definite scrubbing job. In summation, beware of this hotel, I would not be spending my money here a second time.
