“Hated it/too overpriced”

Copa Cabana Resort Hotel & Suites

11 Sep 2007

Asful stay, desk auditor rude and crass. Basically implied I was lying when I said I was due a refund. Jazuzzi tub did not work my whole stay. They kept making excuses whey it didn't work, Overchaged pretty much told me I lied. No much to do for price of rooms. Holes in the hall, thin walls, bathrooms disgusing, water marks on wall and celing. Small play area for small children do water activities. Over all this place sucks!!!!!! Still want to get in the jacuzzi away from and relax, We were to book a family outing next summer this place definitley won't be in the running!

“Worst Hotel I've ever stayed at!”

Copa Cabana Resort Hotel & Suites

6 Sep 2007

Our stay was for one night...thank goodness...and it was horrible. The hotel is extremely old and dirty. The worst part is we paid over $200 per night. Would not recommend this hotel at all.

“OK with very little kids only”

Waterparks (both indoor and out) are really more of splash pools for kids, no rides for anyone over the age of 5 here.

Customer service... Best suggestion for a restaurant they could give us was IHOP. Room cleaning team took their time; let me not forget microsized towels and single pack of coffee next to the coffeemaker with the note attached: "if you would like a decaf or a tea, please exchange this at the front desk."We found that pretty funny.

Their price reflects all of the above and if it's the savings you are looking for, you probably won't find a better room (with or without jacuzzi) for the money.

Location is great, walk to all the parks and restaurants. Room 909 was clean and smell-free. There were very few people staying here, so it was great for a short getaway with our little one, but don't expect to entartain your entire family, as someone previously said.

We stayed at this hotel with my two children ages 4 and 8. I would say I selected it on availabity due to last minute plans and some of the positive comments made on this site. However, I was quite disappointed. We obviously got the old end of the hotel as we had booked two double beds because that was all that was left. When we went to the room, the smell was horrible !!! It smelled like either someone had died in the room and they used nilodor to cover the smell or something had spilled on the carpet and had gone rancid!!! I called the front desk and they had housekeeping address the problem right away. Needless to say, the ozone machine that they used for the room did not work and we were upgraded to a room on the same side of the hotel, much larger room minus the smell. The hotel staff were quite accomodating and agreed there was a smell. Funny enough during the evening they had re-booked someone else into the same room with the horrible smell, which in my opinion is not good customer service.

The overall ambiance is okay, but the old side of the hotel is just that, old. I did not see the newer rooms and can not comment on same. I am also assuming that all hotels in the area do not have a cancellation policy. The Copa basically put through one night on your credit card as soon as you make the reservation, I did not like that aspect. The positives of this hotel, is they provide the tickets to the Waterpark, which is okay for smaller kids and is a lower end park in comparison to the others. I also had tickets to the water ski show but had to pay to upgrade for seats rather than benches. Oh as well I would not have bathed in the bathtub in the upgraded room, I have attached a photo, needs a definite scrubbing job. In summation, beware of this hotel, I would not be spending my money here a second time.

“Great for the whole family!! Loved the pools and grounds!”

Copa Cabana Resort Hotel & Suites

30 Jul 2007

I loved the appeal of this place--for both adults and children. The indoor pool areas were fabulous with lots of room and fun amenities for the young uns and the parents!

The outdoor pools were great. Our boys loved the mushroom, waterfall, pirate ship, and the slide they kept lining up for. It was perfect for young children. I loved the spacious quiet feel. If you go on the right day of the week, and time you can enjoy things doubly. We used the indoor/outdoor pools not in the height of day but in the evening. It was a great time to do that.

We did stay in the older double double rooms for a better rate. And if you don't have to have everything so new and fancy they're very fine accomodations. I was happy with them.

The grounds were quiet and nice and it was just a nice location. We all loved the walkway above that kept us from traipsing across a busy highway....A definite highlight.

The free tickets to Tommy Bartlett were wonderful. We could have chosen the Water show or the exploratory. I'd been to the water show with my husband on our honeymoon so we tried the exploratory thinking it would be fun for the kids. It's sort of walking into a time capsule of 80's technology, but it's still quite enjoyable, particularly for free! We avoided using the Riverview tickets as we went to Noah's Ark and nothing tops that. It was still nice to have the option of using these free tickets.

I would stay here again in a heartbeat, the kids loved it and so did we. We love to try new places every time, but I'm tempted to go back.
