I stayed at the Raintree with my husband and 13-year-old son to watch my daughter who was playing in the JVDA volleyball tournament. I booked online and chose this hotel because we liked the layout of the two-room suite; there were diagrams available online. Too bad there were no accurate photos of the rooms! Their design is overly themed and poorly done, the furniture is cheap and worn, my son says he found nail clippings on the couch, and there was an uncomfortable dent on one side of the box springs of my husband and my bed. Furthermore, the linens were paper thin from over-washing (and being of poor quality to start with), many of the cheap, scratched and worn light fixtures didn't work, and their shades were yellowed. Everything was basically tacky and grungy. The service was also ridiculously bad. It seemed as though the place were staffed by teenagers who had no concept of customer service with no management whatsoever. If that weren't enough, there was no snack food available on the premises except for ONE vending machine with a poor selection, so when my son was a little hungry at 9:30 after we went to a movie, we had to go outside (and it was cold!) to get him something. Also, even though we were gone for most of the day, they never came to service the room. All of this, and what I consider to be much too much to pay especially considering it was not high season, made our stay in Wisconsin Dells something we will never consider repeating.

“Fun and Inexpensive Winter Getaway for Family with Young Kids”

RainTree Resort & Conference Center

I was please after reading so many bad reviews…
We arrive early and it took the clear a little extra time and confusion too get us checked in, no big hassle…
Our room was clean and fairly comfortable; perhaps they read the bad reviews...

When we arrive to our room the carpeting was still damp from shampooing, worn looking but clean. Everything was clean yes, the furniture was old and dingy, and the mattresses very firm… pertty typical of a water park hotel with low room rates that caters to family with young children.

Our room had plent of towels and we didn have to ask they they had extra pillow and sheets and blankets tucked in the drawers for the sofa bed.

The pool was area nice and I notice them testing it quite regularly, like several times a day.

We brought a 3, 4, 5 year old, and the water park was just right for them. They had free life jacket rentals for the kids and a variety of activities to entertain them including a number a small slides and 2 not so big tube slides (also big enough for grownups) and a rope walk across and the and water basketball and a large hot tub for us grown up kids.

The outdoor park while covered with snow during our visit appeared to be of the same caliber. I think any kid over the age of 8 would get bored there real fast.

The Arcade was small, but sufficient for the younger kids. We had a problem with one of the games and they attended to it quickly. The game prices and prizes were very reasonable.

Winter of off peak at the dells so, the café at the pool and the lounge was closed. We knew this ahead of time ~ so we packed a cooler so we didn’t have to leave the hotel. The room had a decent sized fridge and we kept the rest on ice in the cooler.

We brought our own drinks to the pool and while the signs say it is a “no no” but nobody one seemed to mind, as their café was closed.

My only complaint is the halls were a little bit too chilly! And the housekeepers tool a loonnngggg time to clean ~ but clean is good!

“RainTree Resort and Waterpark”

RainTree Resort & Conference Center

The overall rating is above average for the waterpark feature! The other features were average.

My family and I just stayed at the Rain Tree Resort. We went to the resort for the waterpark experience, and we had a blast at the waterpark. It had 5 smaller slides for youth, 2 big slides for teens and adults, tunnels, water basketball, floating devices with hanging ropes, and a hot tub. The waterpark made the hotel!

However, the other ammenities and attractions for the hotel were lacking. It is a highly used resort and the wear and tear were evident. The elevator showed signs of aging. The rooms were clean, but needed updating. Even so, I felt like our room satisfied our needs for a winter getaway.

The check-in time is really 4pm and not 3pm like it is stated on the website. If you come at 3, you may go and enjoy the waterpark. Thankfully, the waterpark only caters to registered guests.

The cafe was not open during our visit. The hours were not posted either. The lounge on the main floor was open. Vending machines were not available on each of the floors. We did not mind this inconvenience because we went out to enjoy the town's restaurants.

I would highly recommend this hotel for the waterpark. If you are not going there to swim, I would pass on it.

“Not worth the $$$ Savings”

RainTree Resort & Conference Center

22 Feb 2008

This was my first visit to the Dells, and it made a very bad impression on me. Although I realize I stayed in this hotel during "off peak" season, there were still so many concerns with this hotel that I felt the need to post a review.

Cons:
-Litterally, the hardest beds I have ever slept on
-Rooms are filthy, cleaning service doesn't come until 5 PM
-Furniture is very worn
-The room had a very musty odor
-No automatic check out
-Shower head was moldy
-The hotel has no irons
-Walls are extremely thin. While staying in a waterpark hotel, I expect to hear children running around late at night, but I could hear kids running around the floor below us
-The smoke detector low battery "beep" went off and was beeping from 9:30-11:00 at night. The front desk was notified at 9:30, but didn't fix it until 11:00, when another patron ripped the battery out of the alarm.
-If you are into visible tattoos on the staff members and appreciate staff members smelling like smoke, this is the place for you.
-The bar staff does not do a good job of "cutting off" drunken patrons

Pros:
-Location was good
-Waterpark seemed to be fun for the kids (would suggest 12 yrs or younger)
-Arcade was fun for the kids (12 or younger)
-Adult beverages were appropriately priced

The Iowa Rockets Volleyball Club used the Raintree Resort as our Club hotel during our stay in the Dells for a Volleyball tournament. I found the hotel and indoor waterpark to be very pleasant and enjoyable. The price was very good for winter rates. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. The bartender was even very helpful. We ended up stranded at the Raintree an extra night due to an ice and snow storm. Even with the bad weather and probably shortage of help due to the snowstorm, the entire staff went out of their way to make everyone comfortable. It ended up being quite an adventure. There are plenty of restaurants in the area and several within close walking distance.
