Our family of 3 stayed here for 3 nights in July. We booked a 2 room family suite which consisted of 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the second floor for $199/night. We found the room to be kind of dirty and run-down. There was an old/used bar of soap on the floor of the shower. The bedspreads were torn/stained. Found mold in both bathrooms. Lots of crumbs in the corners of the rooms. Not exactly the "suite" we expected. The waterpark was kind of run down too. The loungers were horrible, almost dangerous the way they sagged and drooped to the floor. The tables were dirty - ketchup on one table stayed there the whole 3 days we were there. Obviously no one is in charge of wiping them down.
Was it all bad? NO! I thought the lifeguards did a good job. Yes, they blow their whistles (as another poster reported) but it was necessary every time I saw them do it. Lots of running, climbing up the waterslides, splashing the little ones - stuff that needed to be stopped in order to maintain a safe environment. Some parents were ticked off their kids were "getting the whistle" but I was glad someone actually cared enough to enforce the rules.
The waterpark had lots of fun stuff for the little ones. My daughter especially enjoyed the pirate ship area. Obviously this place is geared for kids under 10. Anyone older will probably be bored very quickly. It's big and spread out but does not have the "thrill rides" the older kids will want to try.
All the employees were very kind and professional. The restaurant and bar were good but pricey. A margarita was $6.50, a kids hot dog meal (fries and drink included) was $7.50. We chose to eat off the property for most of our stay but the restaurant did come in handy for quick "pool food" when we got hungry.
If this place could tackle the cleanliness issue, I think they would do very well. There is a plan to update the hotel later this year and I hope that includes the rooms, not just the waterpark facilities.
Would I recommend this place? If you have little ones who enjoy the smaller water slides/games/pools but don't mind the outdated, dingy rooms - yes. If you are looking for an upscale resort facility with lots of thrill rides - go elsewhere.
