“Loved the Kalahari”

Kalahari Resort

We stayed at the Kalahari for one night the end of July and LOVED IT! We arrived around 1:00 and our room was ready. The room was spacious and the sink area was separate from the toilet/shower which helped everyone to get ready quickly. We spent most of our time at the outdoor waterpark the first day but did try many of the rides inside. The next morning we headed right out to the outside park again as our kids all liked that area best (3 teenagers) and stayed until around 7:30 at night mostly outside. The conceirge was very helpful with our questions about the area and helped us in ordering tickets for the jet boats ride of the dells. The rooms was spacious and very comfortable although we weren't in it very much. The water rides were great and the lazy river awesome. We stayed over on a Tuesday night and it didn't seem very busy at all. We would all love to go back here.

“Kalhari good and bad, mostly good”

Kalahari Resort

This is a nice hotel with a great waterpark. First off the bad of the hotel. Prior reviews are dead on about the service. They do not care about you. My story. I had a 3 year old that threw up on the way to the Kalahari (in the vehicle, twice on a 5 hour trip). We called ahead and asked for an early check in and told them our dilema. They told us to call back later, but did not have a room cleaned (1pm). Stopped at the hotel and told them our dilema and asked for a hotel room as soon as possible (no go). Got a room at 5 pm. Check in is at 4. We had checked back numerous times. My child laid down in our vehicle for awhile and felt better. Not once did they say we will get back to you when we get a room clean or anything. Poor and inconsiderate. Not typical of our midwest way of life in this area. By the way, I saw at least a dozen other people check in early. The lifeguards are not friendly and do not take their jobs seriously. They look like they need a nap.

Ok, the good is everything else. For the price (we got it for 170) you get 4 passes for 2 days at the waterpark and a great room with a balcony. The water park is fantastic. I recommend the water coaster and purple tornado slide indoors, and the green body slide outdoors. The lines were not long at any time. Use the lockers, they are not that bad or overcrowded. Great park for all ages, we had a 1,3, and 13 year old and they all had a blast.

I would skip the Khauriville restraunt, poor service, not great food, bad drinks, not the atmosphere they advertise.

“Great stay at the Kalahari”

We just returned from a 5 night stay at the Kalahari resort in Wisconsin Dells and had a very positive experience. Our check-in Sunday afternoon was quick and very friendly. We had a great room in the main building that had a balcony overlooking the outdoor waterpark. The room was very spacious. I found everything to be very clean, including the waterparks. There were many lifeguards and I thought they really watched the pools. My son is 10 years old, and good swimmer, so I rely on the lifeguards mostly to monitor horsing around and for overall safety and I thought they did a good job with that. I found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful. I wasn't overly impressed with either of the restaurants on site - Kahunaville or Great Karoo but the food was okay. It was just pricey for the quality. However, we ordered a pizza from the hotel delivered via room service and it was fairly inexpensive and the best meal we had there. Overall, we had a very good experience and I would highly recommend this resort. If we return to the Dells, this definitely where we will stay.

“Entertainment Condo Loft Worth Every Penny!”

Our family of 17 (10 adults, 7 children, ages 2-12) just returned from our three day stay in the spacious Entertainment Loft. What a great stay!

The pictures do not do this place justice. The price can be a bit hard to swallow, especially in the high season, but it was worth it. Our 5 different family units were spread over three floors, and the space never felt crowded.

There are two master units, one with a king bed, and the other with two queens. The remaining 3 bedrooms, each with two queens, have a bathroom located in the hallway. There are also separate sinks outside the bathrooms. That is five bedrooms and five bathrooms, sleeping space for 18 without using a couch or the chairs in the lower level.

The entertainment level (lower) housed a pool table, fire place, wide screen TV with theatre seating for 6, dart board and full bar.

The living/kitchen area on the main floor was more than adequate for the amount of meals we prepared there (mainly breakfast ).

While it is true that the condos are a bit of a walk from the park, the shuttle was very prompt in escorting us to and from our room whenever we asked. We never waited more than 5 minutes. And if the weather is nice, it is only about a 10 minute walk from door to door. (You can do most of it inside the resort if you desire.)

The condos overlook a farmer's field, and our balcony provided a great view. Our condo had an adjoining unit, so in theory, you could rent both sides to house a group of 36! The adjoining unit was occupied during our stay, and we never heard them through our walls. (Nor did they complain that they heard us!!)

The water park experience was great also, but very crowded between 12-4. Three days worth of resort guests are in the water park during those hours.

On check in day, you should be able receive your arm bands at 12:00. I suggest arriving in your suit and NOT taking a locker. The locker room was overcrowded. Keep your valuables in the car, use towels from the hotel (which are around in great quantities), find a chair, and have fun.

The rest of your days you will be allowed in the park an hour earlier than the day guests, and seating will not be a problem. I would suggest securing your spot before 10:30am.

We left the park from 1-3 each day to avoid the crowds and get out of the sun. By 6:00pm many of the arriving guests are in their rooms, the departing guests have left, and the water park is virtually empty. This was the best time for us to take advantage of the short lines. (Early in the morning was a little cold for me, but not my children.)

On the day of our departure we didn't leave the park until 5:00. Once again, the locker rooms were very crowded, and a little messy from a full days use, so we opted for not showering at the park.

If we had to do it all over again, I would reserve the E-Condo for a large group.

If I was just going with my family of 4, I would do the following:

1. Book 2 nights in a modest room
2. Arrive check in day at 12:00pm and enjoy the park the rest of the day.
3. Day 2... Arrive at the water park area around 9:00 and enjoy the park until 1:00pm.
4. Return to the park after 5:00pm.
5. Check out day arrive at the park at 9:00am, enjoy the park (leaving during the busy time if you wish).
6. If you are more than a few hours from home, move to a cheaper motel in the Dells the night of check out day.

Hope this review was helpful.

Our first trip to Wisconsin Dells did not live up to hype. I've been hearing about the place since I was a kid and finally took my four year old.

The town is just a tourist trap with T-Shirt shops and decpite what you read the economy is not bad, The town and every hotel was packed. People where spending money left, right and sideways.

We read great reviews here about the Kalahari and could not be more unimpressed. The $300 a night room was a standard two queen with a pull out sofa. Not bad, but no where near worth $300 a night. The staff was fine and the room was clean enough.

The outdoor waterpark was OK, the indoor one was a humid mess. That damp funky smell is still with me two days later. Both were packed and people were having fun and they seemed to enjoy it. I wonder why people go to the outdoor bar at 10 AM and order buckets of beer and umbrella drinks?

Stay away from the Dells.
