This hotel advertised online that it was close to certain bars and resteraunts. We booked the Grand Marquis because of that and it was not true. It was far away from the main drag. Also, the front desk lady was very rude to me when I told her about the online info. She accused me of lying which I wasn't. No coffee makers in room or iron. Crappy decor. Pink and turqoius. UPDATE!

This was our 3rd year to the Dells and our 3rd year staying at a property that was geared towards younger kids. If your kids are over 7, they would probably be bored here unless you are just staying one night. My 3 and 4 year olds liked it a lot...previously we stayed at Meadowbrook and also Atlantis in the Dells. I booked the room (studio suite) directly with the property and had no problems on the phone or with credit card charging. It was the off season so the rate was good even though many things in the Dells are closed or will close in October...my kids are little enough not to care about those things. Room was ready as promised and room was clean and well furnished...in a nutshell: beds-a bit hard. shower-clean and good pressure. towels-6 of them, decent sized (must bring own pool towels though- or swap room towels out at front desk). Microwave and fridge in room-worked fine and were good size. AC-worked fine. Walls- not too thin- barely heard other people in hall or other rooms the whole time we were there. Staff-friendly and even helped us locate 2 very random things we needed while we were there.... Housekeeping-punctual and thorough. Parking and location-good. Game room-2 of them-small but games worked fine. There was one pool (max 5 feet deep, 2 dolphin water slides), 2 hot tubs, and 1 baby pool right off of lobby. Well kept. Outdoor pool was closed while we were there but was of decent size with a few slides. Kiddie waterpark area (also had a hot tub) was at other end of hallway from lobby. Like I said, good for really small kids...starts at 0 depth and deepest water is about 18 inches? Perfect to keep an eye on the kids and they can also bring toys/buckets etc in water. Parents can go down the slides with kids on their lap or they can catch them at the bottom if needed.... Bottom of pool floor is rough in some spots, as in, if you fall, knees will get scraped....mats on the end of the slides could be a bit longer or you might get a rear end scrape if you go too fast. We checked out the Wilderness across the street before we left but it seems too massive for our small kids. Grand Marquis is close to Outlet malls, highway, Knuckleheads, etc...but everything is pretty close at the Dells, so no big deal on location either way. Had pizza from nearby Pizza Pub and also Buffalo Phils, both delivered to room hot and tasty for cheap $$. Lets face it, you dont go to the Dells for a luxury vacation. Bottom line? Basic clean accomodations and fun for small kids at the Grand Marquis.

This is a good stay for smaller children, up to age 7-8. Indoor waterpark is mainly for smaller children. We have traveled to the Dells every year for 8yrs. 1st time at Grand marquis, did a 5 night stay. My children age 8 and up continued to scrap their arms and knees as the mat at the end of the indoor water-slide is not wide or long enough to prevent that. Also, very high level of Chlorine in all 3 pool areas. We had to do every other night in the pool as the chlorine was to much for our eyes and nose. Room and service were great. Would only stay here again if I only planned on sleeping, otherwise I plan to stay elsewhere that is designed with older children in mind.

This year during our annual stay at the dells we booked at the Kalahari for the first 3 days. During our last day at the dells we decided to stay for one more day but at a different hotel. So, as I was looking through the dells visitor guide trying to find a reasonably priced hotel the Grand Marquis popped into my head. I remember visiting their website during our very first trip to the dells in 2003. So, I called the Grand Marquis directly and booked the room. I had only seen the information that was on their website and plus I was always interested in seeing their waterpark.

It turns out that the kids had a great time in the waterparks. Especially the indoor one that I think is specifically geared towards those under 7 and their parents. My husband and I sat in the hot tub (with our 2 year old) and could clearly see our other two children running and playing. My 4 year old even attempted the smaller water slides and eventually couldn't get enough of them. I ended up going down a couple of times myself.

The only things that were a bit of an annoyance were the

1) matresses or the pads on the beds
Pretty much whenever you moved or breathed while sitting on the bed it sounded like someone was crumpling up a bag of chips of something.

2) you need to have everyone in your party/room go down to the lobby when you get your waterpark bracelets. When I went down to get mine and asked for my husbands she replied "he needs to come down himself."

3) no available pool towels
We had to take the bath towels from our room to the pool and then you trade the wet ones for some dry towels. Don't loose one because then it is added to your bill.

Overall, the Grand Marquis served its purpose for us which was for sleeping. I wouldn't stay there again for more than 1 night because my kids are getting older and would get bored with the waterpark being so small and lack of hotel activites.

They have 2 small game areas (4 - 5 games in each room). Two small indoor waterpark areas and then the one outside. Then of course the rooms have a micro and fridge.

Also remember that old saying...."you get what you pay for"

As soon as we drove up to the Grand Marquis, my boyfriend and I were pleased. It's set slightly apart from the insanity that is the Dells around Mount Olympus/Tommy Bartlett/Noah's Ark, but definitely not too far, and its exterior is much more classy and subdued. Check-in was fast and smooth, and the front desk staff was unbelievably sweet.

We stayed in one of the Deluxe Jacuzzi Suites on the first floor. Very, very romantic! The room was fresh and spotless and clean-smelling, and the jacuzzi was much larger than I anticipated (and filled up very quickly). The bed was very comfy, although I would have preferred a couple extra pillows, and the TV was very large with plenty of cable channels. The bathroom, as well, was very clean, and nothing in the room malfunctioned while we were there. The microwave/fridge was a nice touch, and the perfect size.

Both the indoor and outdoor pool areas were just beautiful, with very pleasant water temperature. The slides weren't huge, but definitely big enough for both of us to enjoy. There's even a waterfall in the outdoor pool! The dual hot tubs inside were also delightful. The best part, though, is that the waterpark for little kids was in a completely separate area of the hotel, so the screaming tots were having fun elsewhere.

The front desk people were able to help us find menus and coupons for nearby restaurants, and even came through with plastic forks and napkins when we were enjoying midnight leftovers. All in all, a very pleasant, relaxing, and smooth experience in just the right place, if you're not looking for one of the big, busy, expensive waterpark resorts.

The only things that could have worked out better: The drain in the room jacuzzi was a bit leaky, so after a time you had to turn the water back on and fill up a bit more, and the hotel HBO was a wee bit fuzzy. Nothing bad enough to complain about, but I felt like I should include *some* critiques.

Bottom line: I'd recommend it to anybody. For the price, I never would have expected it to be so lovely!
