Old Newport resort is like your home away from home. Here you can relax on vacation and get the comfort and accomodations of "home". This is only because the owners Ed and Jane Sojka make it this way. They greet you as if they have known you forever, welcoming you with open arms. They show you to your cabin and let you know that there for you for your every need. Never have I felt more welcome on a vaction trip then I did here. This was our first time here but, will definitely make it our vacation spot in the years to come. It's the best place to take your kids, our kids had so much to do they couldn't believe it and it allowed us to enjoy ourselves as well. Our vacation money was well spent here. So if your thinking about taking a trip with your kids, this is the spot for you!! Thank you Ed and Jane for a most wonderful time. The memories we took with us, will last a lifetime and we will definitely be back. Many thanks again!!!!!

What a great place! I was so surprised at the overall beauty of this resort and the area surrounding. The resort has cute little cabins, nestled in the woods, and sitting on the Wisconsin River. Each cabin stands independantly and has it's own grill and picnic table. These are cabins...they are not over-priced hotel rooms. The resort offered so much to do (swim, fish, bon fires, playground area, play in the sand) that our kids had the time of thier lives without costing us a fortune. We were also able to cook meals and did not have to eat out three times a day. It seems like a whole different world even though we were only 5 minutes from the heart of downtown! I would suggest this place to anyone and everyone!

We were majorly disappointed in this place! The cottages are about the size of a 10x10 room. The furniture was old antiquey and very uncomfortable to sit in. The "bedrooms" were tiny 8x8 (if even) rooms that barely fit a bed and had a screen as the door! Cottage 15 is a major waste of money. They should describe the inside of the cottages for you more! I was swindled out of a 50 dollar deposit. If I would have know that this place looked so dumpy, I never would have sent a 50 dollar deposit, I would have rather stayed in my car! The walls were plywood, the place was smelly and there wasn't much room at all! I would never recommend this place. The owners weren't real accomodating either. We tried to get our money back and they said no way. Well, I'll tell everyone that I come in contact with that this place is NOT the place to go. The backseat of your car would be nicer and more comfortable than this place. Maybe the other 'cottages' are better, but #15 is pathetic.

The Dells! What a strange combination of natural beauty and man-made carnival. It is the Las Vegas for kids.

How many families crowd this area annually for the goofy attractions (water parks, go karts, all you can eat buffets, etc.)? Yet they come in droves.

We (my husband and I) have been going to The Dells on a regular basis for over 20 years and always stay at Old Newport Resort on the lower Wisconsin River. This resort is unique for several reasons - no data ports in the cabins, cabins, sandy beach front, exquisite view, and the most geniune and welcoming hosts, Ed and Jane Sojka.

If you take in the sunrise off the river, sitting on the pier or the cabin deck, and watch the morning vapor rise off the water while the birds are active then you'll know why we keep going back...need to go back.

The kids are grown now and downtown Dells experience isn't as compelling as it once was, but we make the trip because Old Newport has become a part of us. And, of course, we need to stock up on fudge!
