We loved staying at the Alakai. Rooms were super clean and very nicely accommodated--refrigerator, microwave, and sitting area. Our 2 year old loved the kiddie pool and slides and it was just the right depth all around. Unlike all huge water parks this was a nice relaxing atmosphere where our family could enjoy private time together. In the morning we could walk to breakfast and Buffalo Phil's and Knuckleheads was just across the way.

We will always stay at the Alakai; it's affordably priced, spotless, and very friendly. As a bonus, it is practically within walking distance to the new Tanger Outlets. Ask the staff for recommendations on restaurants, attractions etc.

We stayed here over the weekend in one of the whirlpool suites and loved it. It was just my girlfriend and I and we both enjoyed the fireplace, in room whirlpool, fringe and microwave. The room was ready on time, clean and neat, up to date, and quiet. The staff was wonderful; the pool and public hot tub was great and also very clean. Overall, it was a great weekend getaway and we will hopefully be back.

What we didn't like... The in-room whirlpool had a very loud pump and while it worked, sounded like a belt was going bad. The ice machine was a journey from one end of the hotel to the other. It looked like the ice machine for our part of the hotel was missing. Price was a little more than what we would have liked to pay but it was very competitive.

Overall we happy and would return and recommend to others!

We stayed here during peak season and enjoyed the pool and small water parks. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The water parks were very small but enjoyable and safe for the 1-3 year olds traveling with us. The staff were very nice and we thought the prices were great for what the hotel offered.

I asked the front desk if they had any military rates since I was on my first vacation from Iraq in three years. She said they did not. I arrived at 2am and the check-out time was 10:30am. The $128 I paid for a King room was way over-priced to the point of gouging. The ice machine is clear down around the corner from the desk. So I had to walk back down from Building B just to get ice. It would be nice if they told you there was no ice machine in the outbuilding. For that price they should provide you with bags of it. The room door had such a large cap that the hall light shined in all night keeping us awake. The pay per view green power light is also annoying. The toilet ran all night long like a Chinese Water Torture due to a faulty ballcock. We didn't even get a chance to use the pool or any amenities but it looked like they were pretty meager. Some of the hotels will throw in a ride on the Wisconsin Ducks for the same price. The clerk had her 5-year old daughter up manning the desk at 2am then she'd awake mom when a customer came in.

    • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — Stay elsewhere.
