We would not recommend this place at all. We were supposed to stay two nights, but checked out after the first night and went somewhere else. The main reason we left was because of the extremely POOR customer service. It seems that some of the business owners in the Dells would rather bite the hand that feeds them, instead of caring if their customers are satisfied.
We stayed in one of the log apartments, which was OK, but accommodations were barely worth the off-season price, we would have been even more dissatisfied if we were paying peak season rates. Huge WARNING – there are no phones in the room and it's true - the walls are paper thin (we could hear the drunk people next door snoring and fighting almost as if they were in our room.
The first time we used the toilet was later in the evening, it started to back up (for no obvious reason), there just happened to be a plunger there, we plunged the toilet and the bathtub started filling with nasty water coming up through the drain. The toilet seemed to be fine, we planned on calling in the morning, since it was kind of late. In the middle of the night when my husband got up to go to the bathroom the floor was wet, something was leaking so he put towels down. When I woke up later to use the bathroom, unaware of the leak, I ruined my slippers. To make a long story short, when you are on vacation you should not have to deal with this sort of disgusting junk. When we called the office the next morning, she said she would send someone right over. An hour went by and we had to call again, we were hoping to get something resolved so that we could take a shower. We were told we could pack up all of our stuff and move to another cabin. (This required emptying the fridge, packing our clothes, dressing without a shower to go out into the cold and get in the van to drive to the office to get keys for the new cabin, moving all of our stuff in the cold…) My husband asked if they were going to do anything because of our inconvenience, he was told that they were doing something - they were moving us and asked what else he wanted them to do. He asked if they were going to give us any sort of discount or reimbursement – he was then asked if that was all he cared about was money and told that it would not resolve the problem it would only put a band-aid on it. (?) Not sure what sort of business classes Dionne (who said she was Manager / Owner) has taken, if any, but after all we already went through and then to be treated in such an uncaring, unprofessional manner, that was enough for us. We figured, since we had to pack up all of our stuff and move out of there, we would just throw it in our van and go somewhere that appreciated our business. We were not about to give them another dime, and we will make sure that anyone and everyone that we know or who cares to listen will be warned about this place. We left there and stayed at the Econolodge – they were extremely accommodating by allowing us to check in early with all of our things (they even brought us a fridge so we would not lose the food we had already bought while staying at the other place). We tried to get into the Kalahari, but everything was booked – maybe they know how to treat their customers – I’m not sure we never stayed there, but my point is there are TONS of places to eat and sleep in the Dells, STEAR CLEAR OF THE RIVERS EDGE!!! From some of the other reviews, we thought it was going to be a “diamond in the rough” - the diamond turned out to be a Cubic Zirconium.
***If you don’t mind mediocre accommodations at luxury prices, putting up with messy plumbing problems on your vacation, no phone in your cabin to reach the front office, and then being treated like trash when you do call them, (LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE) then this is the place for you.
We are extremely leary of the good reviews BEWARE!!!
