This was my third stay at spring creek ranch. We were there for 8 nights while visiting Jackson, Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park. I find this a great location. We have spectacular views, easy 10 minute access to the town of Jackson with it's abundance of excellent restaurants and art galleries and close enough to Grand Teton National Park to make full days of visiting and hiking the park. Yellowstone is farther, at least an hour and half for the main geyser areas but can also be done as a day trip. In the past I have spent a couple nights in East Yellowstone to more fully enjoy all that area has to offer. But both parks can definitely be done from this location.
We changed rooms 3 times. If we had stayed in the first room, I would definitely have not had a good feeling about Spring Creek but management moved us without any problem to a larger and more appealing room and we ended up moving again because we asked the person helping us with our bags which were the best rooms and he recommended the upstairs cabins as they have cathedral ceilings and a much more spacious feel.
This is not a luxury resort. There is no air conditioning. Of course in the past, AC was never necessary but summers are warmer now. The bathrooms are adequate but have not been updated and are not fabulous. The decor is warm and inviting but a little tired and could use refreshing and updating.
What Spring Creek has in abundance, however, is an absolutely spectacular butte-top setting, beautiful walkways, a very appealing rustic feel and excellent staff. The concierge has many services to offer including a spa which we did not use, horse back riding (the best trail ride in Jackson, I suspect) wildlife safari's, jeep tours of the parks and trail recommendations.
Another huge plus is the Granary restaurant with "the best breakfast in Jackson." This is included in the room and is full of outstanding choices. The restaurant is perched over the valley and full glass gives wonderful views any where you sit. Dinner was excellent and we ate there twice, making sure to return to here the wonderful live jazz which is played on weekends.
Spring Creek is directly next door to the ultra-luxurious (and 3 to 4 times as expensive) Amangani. It's easy to go there for lunch or dinner and it's fun to use their bar or lobby. The view can't touch the scenery available at Spring Creek.
This was my third time staying here. I love this area and will be sure to return to Spring Creek on my next visit.
