We could not agree more with the three previous reviews --- specifically --- this is an excellent place to stay for rustic charm, breathtaking views and excellent dining choices. We ate 4 meals in the Trapper Grill and thorougly enjoyed each one. We stayed in an upper Lakefront unit, and I must admit that when we first arrived, I was underwhelmed with the ambience of the room. We stayed for two nights and the place grew on me. The rustic charm is in keeping with the natural surroundings of the Teton National Park, however the facilities appear to be in need of some upkeep and a general sprucing up. If you want a more upscale experience, stay at the Jenny Lake lodge or the Jackson Lake Lodge. If a more rustic experience suits your needs, the Signal Mountain Lodge is a good choice to make.

If this had not been the last stop on a month long road trip, we would have asked to extend our stay another night or two. The location is simply exceptional and our country room had all we needed to spread out and be really comfortable. We did not spring for a lakeside room, and did not regret this, as we could see Mt. Moran, Grand Teton, etc. over the building in front of us, and had a view of the lake between buildings, as well as a forested area on two sides of our porch. It is rustic. Do not expect fluffy robes, but do expect real comfort.

Our room was clean, had a comfortable king bed, plenty of towels and both a fridge and a microwave. We tend to fix breakfast and lunch and eat dinner out (depending on location) and we had excellent food in The Peaks, and good food in the Grill. (Be aware that the kitchenette has no dishes, etc., other than coffee mugs. We had no problems with critters, BTW.) Also, it is well worth renting a canoe and exploring from the water. Just watch the weather forecast for afternoon wind and/or storms. Is is also worth walking along the edge of the campground to the boat ramp and taking the trail along the lake through the woods south of there.

This is the second time we have stayed at Signal Mt Lodge and would stay again if we can! We love the quiet, peaceful atmosphere and the views. The first time we stayed in a country room; this time we chose a cabin and thoroughly enjoyed it. The views from the porch were superb! The food in the grill is very good and plentiful - sometimes TOO much. The Peaks menu is fantastic as are the prices compared to Jackson . We had all but two of our meals at the lodge during our 6 day stay.

The addition of the convenience store, the gift shops and the gas station make this place a one-stop resort area. No need to travel to town unless you like upscale shopping. This lodge is close to everything in the park as well as Yellowstone. Their boat rentals and raft trips are convenient and low priced. Try their recommendation for horseback riding! It was fun and the company they advocated is private and well run, about 7 miles from the lodge.

As for the mice, we had them in our cabin, at no discount. on the rate, by the way, but the maintenance department responded immediately and took care of the problem. In fact, they were attracted by the food that we left out - and remember these are field mice, not huge rodents. One must expect that in a rustic cabin. The cabins were clean, neat and comfortable, especially the beds. The bathrooms were very clean. They could supply more luggage racks (vs. putting them on the floor) and tables near the beds with lamps so we could read - but with hiking so much, we went to bed early anyway.

As so many reviewers have stated before, it you want business level or 5 star accommodations, this is not the lodge for you! This is a rustic, relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable vacation retreat for those who want peace, quiet and a country vacation without all the amenities of 5 star resort.

After reading some of the reviews posted on TripAdvisor, I was a little hestitant to book our stay at the Signal Mountain Lodge but I'm really glad that I did. My husband and I stayed in a Lakeside Cottage and the views from our room were spectacular! If your looking for a five-star resort, this isn't it but if your looking for somewhere comfortable in the center of the Grand Tetons with somewhat reasonable prices, this is it!

The other reviewers are correct in stating that the furniture and rooms are a little outdated. However, the beds are comfortable with super soft comforters and our room was clean. Just a note, this resort is super eco-friendly so don't expect Puffs tissues!

Would I stay here again? Maybe but we'd probably choose to stay in one of the small cabins to save a little money. Many of the visitors that were staying in the cabins hung out in the main lodge which is totally modern and decorated very nicely. Plus, they have a nice outside deck for viewing purposes.

We ate at the Trapper Grill our first night and in our opinion, the food was average. Since our room had a small kitchen, we chose to go to Coulter Bay and purchase some items from their large grocery store and dine in. Coulter Bay has a HUGE grocery store that has everything from eggs to steaks to bagels to boxed sides (Pasta, etc).

Overall, our stay was enjoyable :)

Note: If you plan on staying in a Lakeside Room, I'd recommend staying in one of the upper units since the lower units had people walking by constantly.

We had a great stay at Signal Mountain Lodge. This was the last of 5 places that my husband and I stayed on a trip through Glacier, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton National parks, and it was certainly the nicest (the rest being mostly very basic motel rooms). If you are used to luxury hotels or business travel, you will probably not be very impressed with Signal Mountain. However, if the rustic charm of staying in a cabin appeals to you, this is a great place. We stayed in a 1 bed cabin with a gas fireplace. We actually used the fireplace even though it was August (it can get pretty cold there in the evenings - pack a sweater!). Our cabin was very cute and had a fairly modern bathroom. During a rain storm we did see a small amount of water seeping in through the logs over the fireplace. This was very minor, however, and didn't cause any damage to our property or to the room since it just dripped onto the stone fireplace.

The location of the property is great, right on Jackson Lake with great views of the mountains. There is a marina onsite where you can rent kayaks, canoes, and I think maybe motor boats too. We met up with some friends who were staying at the adjoining Signal Mountain Campground and found it very comfortable "hosting" them in the beautiful hotel lobby (which also has great mountain views) and in the Trapper Grill (the casual onsite dining option where we actually ended up eating all of our meals during our stay because it was so convenient). There is also a more formal restaurant which we didn't try.

We had a little trepidation in staying here because I had read a review that said that this was the height of 1970s luxury. After staying there, I think it is safe to say that the heyday of this lodge was probably in a different era (not necessarily the 70s though), but I think it is still a great place to vacation and would recommend it!
