My wife and I stayed here for one week in 2005. We enjoyed our stay so much we decided to stay for 2 weeks in 2006. We came back for three weeks in 2007 and recently stayed for 4 weeks in January 2008. The 2 bedroom unit we stayed in was beautiful. I enjoyed watching the super bowl on the large screen flat panel HDTV. The view of the ocean was fabuluos and watching whales jumping on a daily basis from our spacious veranda wasn't bad either! The recently completed Shops at Mauna Lani with a supermarket, Tommy Bahama restaurant and Ruth Chris steak house less than 5 minutes from the condo have added to its appeal since 2007. The beach is small but very nice and the snorkeling from the beach is spectacular. Wonderful restaurants at the Mauna Lani, Orchid, Hilton and Four Season hotels are within a 15-20 minute drive on non conngested highways. My wife and I look forward to our return to Paradise next year.

  • Liked — furnishings, flatpanelHDTV, location, ocean view (whales), housekeeping

I will start out by saying that the Big Island is our favorite hawaiian island and we always hang out at the mauna lani, even when we are not staying there. We have previoulsy stayed in the Bay Hotel and this was our first time at the point. Very private (gated) and quiet. Our unit , H107 was beautiflly furnished. We enjoyed the first floor, as we could walk directly outside. If you enjoy snorkeling, the bay club is tops. We went to our timeshare trade on Kauai after this, and it was a let down after staying at the mauna lani.

  • Liked — Beautiful inside and out. Snorkeling at the bay club.
  • Disliked — nothing-- that I didn't stay there my whole vacation

Excellent condo complex with delightful small snorkeling beach

Our first trip to the Big Island, we chose this condo complex for its proximity to a beach. The condo itself was very spacious and comfortable, with a large lanai overlooking the golf course. (ocean view condos available but more expensive). It had recently renovated; excellent kitchen, 1 1/2 baths, comfortable bed. Daily maid service was a plus.

The best feature for us: a 10 minute walk along the ocean (or 3 minute drive) led us to their small sandy beach. The water was clear, and relatively protected. It was windy--we drove once to a more famous beach, but the waves were too high for swimning and snorkeling, and came right back to this beach. A few minutes swim from the beach were abundant healthy hard corals, mostly of the cauliflower configuration, and abundant healthy reef fish. We also saw 2 green turtles while snorkeling. Beach chaises were available to condo renters.

Our large extended family (12) stayed in three condos here in early July. All were clean, nicely decorated, well appointed and quiet. The pool was not large, but was nice and clean. The beach area was beautiful with plenty of chairs and easy snorkel rental. Housekeeping comes daily and provides clean linen, including beach towels. There were no drawbacks to the property, but you do have to drive a distance to get groceries and, outside of the 2 hotels on site, there aren't a lot of nearby restaurants.

Our family of four, two adults, teenager daughter and teenager son just returned from a week at Mauna Lani Point. We stayed in B 105, and here is the disclaimer part, the owners are personal acquaintances. This unit is gorgeous...two bedrooms, two and a half baths. Both oceanfront and golf course view from the lanai. In talking with other guests during our stay it was obvious that some of these units are nicer than others. That is why I am giving you the unit number we stayed in. The people who own the unit use it themselves for a good part of the year. Because of that it is furnished impeccably with beautiful things and the kitchen is complete. Glasses for wine, cocktails, margaritas, you name it. The point itself is a bit remote but so is everything else in this area. It is part of a nice resort with some decent restaurants on property.
Son and husband played golf on the twilight rate, $75. each...nice course...daughter and I used the spa, facial for her, massage for me. Pretty pricey, facial with products $165.00, massage $135.00. They use outside hales for the massage, beautiful atmosphere. The spa though is just okay. The girls working there are a bit chatty for my taste (I like a very quiet spa) and they have treatment rooms, sauna, steam and showers....the usual bathroom amenities-hairdryer, etc. Nothing special like whirlpool, etc. that I have used at other spas. Side note: best spa of all time:Lodge at Torrey Pines..but that's another review.
Pool and bbq area at the point are nice, very quiet...we had the pool to ourselves a lot. There is a decent beach you can walk to with snorkeling equipment for rent.
We ate in a lot so I won't review restaurants, etc. here.
For a quiet week in a beautiful place, we really enjoyed it. If you are staying at the Point, I highly recommend trying to rent this unit.
Photos later....
