This place has the potential to be really great, but it needs some work.
I stayed in the Kobayashi room for three nights. It's a somewhat isolated site, and very quiet. The national park is just a few minutes away. The room has a Japanese theme, with Japanese furnishings and decorations. The room is a studio, with a small table, kitchen sink, minifridge, and microwave. Tap water is from rainwater catchment (common in this area) and not certified as potable. Drinking water is provided. In addition to small bottles in the room, there's a cooler by the office.
The bed was comfortable.
Breakfasts were very good, and the hosts were very friendly. I love cats, so the cat didn't bother me. The hot tub was very nice.
Note that the window coverings are rice paper curtains, so you can't make it completely dark in this room. There's a tin roof, which can be noisy during the frequent rain.
Now the bad news. There are a number of maintenance problems, particularly in the bathroom. The sink was coming off the wall, there was a hole in the drywall, and one of the ceiling panels was missing. The railing on the pathway stairs was loose. I have different standards for a B&B vs. a regular hotel, but I still think it's deficient for a place costing $110/night.
They also need to address the temperature problem, as many of these posts have noted. The small heaters provided aren't up the 40F or lower temperatures common in this area.
I think with some cleanup and a real heater, this would be a fabulous place.
