I loved this resort and island! Our room was perfect!! We had a 1 bedroom unit on the ground floor. With partial garden view and ocean view. I am so glad we got the bottom unit, how wonderful it was to wake up every morning, step out of our back sliding door and see the ocean. It really felt like the isand was our backyard. The sunrise is breathtaking. The beach is not for swimming, but wonderful to watch the sunrise, listen to the waves and for long romantic strolls with your loved ones. But just two miles down the road is Lydgate (i think i spelled that right) Beach. It has great snorkling that is great for kids and adults.

Our room consist of a full kitchen with everything you need in it. Pots, pans, plates, utensils, etc. There was a small washer/dryer combo unit , a large bathroom with a shower and double sinks and hair dryer. We had a king size bed with a TV in the room. The living room had a pull-out couch for extra guest and another TV. It was just so perfect and relaxing. Everything was clean, but housekeeping doesn't come everyday. You have to call the front desk if you need housekeeping. There is a small pool that has a waterfall and it is heated for night dips in the pool.

Across the parking lot is a bunch of over-priced restaurants and shops.

The airport is only about 10 minutes away, which is nice after a long flight.

I loved it there and want to go back! I recommend this resort to everyone.

“Still Daydreaming About Kauai”

Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy

I had a wonderful experience staying at the Kauai Coast. The rooms are large, beautifully decorated suites, just as pictured on the website. We enjoyed having a kitchen so that we could cook a few meals and make drinks to enjoy while sitting on the balcony. (Going grocery shopping in Kauai is quite a price shock!) We enjoyed watching the sunrise and sunsets from the beach in front of Kauai Coast. The beach is rocky and you cannot swim there, but that didn't bother us. We rented a convertible and enjoyed exploring beaches around the island. I would love to return to the Kauai Coast again. This was the best vacation ever!

My wife and I stayed here between March 15-18, 2008. When we checked in, we found we had been upgraded from a studio to a one bedroom garden view. The room was very clean, and having the full kitchen, extra room and a washer dryer was great.

The property itself is a nice size, not too big or small. It is well landscaped, although I thought the pool was a bit small for the number of people there.

The location is very convenient, close to the two large grocery stores and other amenities on the East side. This means it is fairly easy to go either north or south, but the down side is that you are not as close to the most scenic areas as you would be if staying in the Princeville or Poipu areas.

The restaurant at the hotel was very good, and there are all the restaurants etc. of the Coconut Marketplace immediately adjacent.

Overall, perhaps the best part of this hotel was the helpful and friendly attitude of the staff. I would recommend the Beachboy to anyone who is looking for a comfortable, conveniently located place at a good value.

This was our third time staying at the Kauai Coast and we really like it. It is really nice if you just want a relaxing place to stay while touring the island. We usually stay in a one bedroom condo, which has all the necessities of home including all appliances and a washer/dryer inside the room. The room is pretty big for Hawaii, nice dining room and living area.
The pool area isn't huge, so if you are looking for a big resort style pool scene this isn't for you , but there were some days that there were only a few other couples there, the property is beach front, but it is a little rocky and rough I think to swim, but I liked to grab a chaise and go down and read in the afternoon, most times I was the only person there, one day a seal swam up to sun himself though!
If you get an oceanfront room you will be about 50 feet from the ocean edge, really nice just to sit and watch the waves.
The staff is always great and I have seen the same people working there on all of our trips.
The restaurant on the property is one of the best on the island, the prices are very reasonable too. Next door is a kind of run down mall, but it comes in handy for a convienence store and Eggbert's is good for breakfast. Some cute stores for gifts, but it would be great if they fixed it up a little.
Kapaa in general is more a residential town, but it is a good middle ground for exploring the island, you can be in Hanelei or Poipu in about a 45 min. trip. When you first get there it seems kind of built up, but the resort grounds are very nice and peaceful.

My parents own a timeshare at the beach boy and brought my husband and I along this time for our anniversary. We stayed in a 2 bedroom, second floor ocean view. The place was fantastic, the views spectacular! We would lay in bed in the morning, watch the sunrise and listen to the surf. (Sure beats Illinois in the winter).

Pluses:

Location, Views, shopping, distance to grocery stores, coconut market, walking on the beach, hot tub, pool, hotel staff, comfortable beds, full kitchen, washer/dryer, balcony, casual atmosphere....the beaches are very private and practically deserted. Great bird and whale watching from the balconies....meet some very nice people in the hottub and at the pool. (We were about the youngest there though and we are in our mid-forties.)

Down side:

It sounds like the Beachboy has an insulation/sound problem - we thought the people above us were extemely noisy as well as others reported in their reveiws (couldn't hear talking - just sounded like they were moving all of the furniture around all of the time) very annoying in the middle of the night.

My parents were contacted daily by the "sales staff" to listen to a sales pitch (they already own one - quit bugging them already!

Would definitely go back.
