We stayed here for one week. We also stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Poipu. First the Outrigger is not a resort. Second the partial mountain view rooms are right on the parking lot. Our unit did not have a lanai- just a small ledge. When we opened our sliding glass doors we could touch our car. The problem of course is that our view was of the parking lot and everyone coming and going could see into our room. So we kept our shades closed the entire time. It was like a being in a cave. The inside of the unit is new and very nice. The bathrooms are luxurious. Each unit is individually owned and decorated. Our unit lacked a dresser. This meant there was no place to unpack many of our things.
The partial mountain view rooms are on the first floor with a view of the parked cars. The Mountain view rooms are on the upper floors with views of the parking lots of this place and the Safeway shopping center across the highway. The Outrigger is not set back from the highway and there is no buffer from the apartment buiildings next door. So I do not think the partial or mountain view rooms are worth the cost. It seems to me the people who love this place all had ocean view rooms. We had a Mountain view room at the Grand Hyatt and it was just that. A view of the mountains with no sign of a parking lot, highway or shopping center.
We will go back to the Grand Hyatt, but we will not be coming back to the Outrigger Waipoli.
