We just returned from a week in Kauai- what a beautiful place! We stayed for three nights at Hale Luana which is a beautiful little B&B with just two rooms and one guest lodge. It's on the North Shore, between Kilauea and Anahola. The rooms are gorgeous and clean, the property is beautiful and has wonderful views. There's a lovely pool which is a great treat after spending the day at the beach or hiking. Elizabeth prepares delicious breakfasts with fresh, local fruit (papayas, guavas, pineapple- yum!) along with something different each day such as baked eggs, pancakes, scones, or croissants. Our first morning we sat on the lanai in the garden, chatting with the guests staying in the second room as we lingered over breakfast. It had rained during the night for our next two mornings, but we were still able to eat outside- just on the covered lanai outside the room rather than the table on the garden lanai. There are two friendly dogs so dog lovers (as I am) can get our "dog fix" while we're away from home! Off the beaten path, but easy to get to. Just a short drive to Hanapei, beaches like Ke'e and Tunnels (we loved snorkeling at Ke'e- I even swam with sea turtles!) The price was extremely reasonable, ( $115 per night), much less than the major hotel chains and resorts. We stayed at another B&B on the South Shore, which was $100 more for 3 nights, didn't serve breakfasts (had kitchenettes instead), didn't have a pool, and had views of houses. Hale Luana was MUCH nicer- we would definitely stay there again!
