We stayed two days, which was definitely worth it -- the drive from Kahului to Hana and back is long and tiring (but gorgeous!) This gave us time to explore in and around Hana, and take our time. I believe we stayed in the tree house room; in any case, ours had a locking door and key. The rooms are a bit dated but cozy and comfortable. I was surprised we had a refrigerator and small kitchen -- would have brought more from our studio rental in West Maui. The button to activate the jacuzzi was finicky, but everything else was fine. The Bamboo Inn is in a great location, near the ocean. It is not a sand beach, but black volcanic stones and pebbles. I went boogie boarding, and had a grand time! It's shallow but works well. A young man -- obviously a local -- was out there too, doing 360's and rollovers. He was fun to watch. I accidentally left my board behind on the veranda when we left. The proprietor arranged for later guests to return my board to the rental store for me -- a big help!
