This was the perfect hotel for the 1 day stopover. On the way to another island I had a 14 hour layover at the Marriott. Met at the airport (11.30pm) and taken straight to the hotel, room was already checked in and they handed me the key, took an imprint of the trusty credit card and I was in the room.

The trip from the Airport is 5 minutes max. The rooms are clean, a good size and the bathroom is getting on in age but was perfect for what I wanted.

The restaurants in the hotel were well priced, there's even a Tony Roma's across the road and a few other themed restaurants nearby. The pool is good and the beach close.

The staff were the best even asked for a cab to the local Micronesia Mall, they called and when it hadn't arrived after about 5 minutes they drove me there in the shuttle.

The other hotels in the area are more pricey but for me, an overnight stay on my own. The price, the staff and the location were excellent.

“Very nice stay”

The Marriott is a nice hotel with nice rooms and a _fantastic_ view (see attached photo). The rooms were well kept and comfortable. Everything worked and we were happy to stay here. The Marriott is the wrong property to stay at if you want to play at your hotel. There is a pool, but that's pretty much it for hotel grounds. Still, our kids had a great time playing in the pool almost every day.

The noise from the Pacific Islands Club next door wasn't bad, but you definitely know it's there. There is mold on the balcony, but that's because this is Guam. There is life everywhere... The room was not moldy in any way and we had no worries or concerns (this was a concern of my wife before we arrived) in staying at the Marriott.

The only real dig I had about the hotel was that breakfast was $20 per person at the buffet, which was far too expensive. As soon as we had a car, we went to Shirley's or King's for breakfast (Kings is better).

We would stay there again.

“Not bad for the price”

Marriott Resort and Spa Guam

This hotel has one of the best beach locations on the hotel strip. It is also the best hotel for the price. I paid about US $100. per night for a ocean view. The only problem was the noise coming from the hotel next door. But I was on the 10th floor so it wasn't bad at all when the lanai door was closed. The breakfast buffet was not what I would expect. I would say its better to have your meals at one of the many restaurants outside of the hotel. There is a day spa located next to the pool. The treatments/massages there are WONDERFUL! You have to check it out. Well worth the prices. Try scuba diving if you have the chance.

“When Old Does Not Mean Retro Style!”

This was a family holiday. I stayed for 6 nights and had expected something nicer and with better service. Landed at the Guam airport just past 2 am with my wife and baby, we were met by a rather stony-faced staff. Thinking it was too early for him, I gave him a big tip (even though we left Beijing some 10 hours earlier).

Check In - Was quick even though we were greeted by front desk, "checking out sir?" I replied "Er, no..checking in - we just arrived!"

The room - of good size, but the carpet was old and faded. The curtain was a drab and the furnishings are generally old.

The bathroom was definitely in need of refurbishing - everything from the tiles to taps look like they have been there since the hotel opened, God knows how long ago. The shower tap squeaks when turned. Those may be aesthetic but the toilet bowl was something else - it's one of those which is half-filled with water and splashes your bum when answering the call of nature. Don't you despise that?!

Housekeeping - We had to ask for a bath mat 2 days in a row. The third day, the used towels were taken by housekeeping but not replaced! The sheets were also not changed for 3 days until we complained. Housekeeping takes ages to clean even though we put the sign "make my room". So, basically it's very slow and inefficient.

The airconditioning - Noisy

The hotel does not have a kettle to boil water as I needed one to make milk for my baby. They only had a coffee maker which can boil water but with "coffee flavour".

Service - The phone rang out the first time when I tried to get some hot water after checking in to make milk for my baby. The second time, it took about 1 full minute to answer. I know it's 3 in the morning but hey, I just flew for 10 hours with my family and first impressions DO count!

Ok, I have no problems at the restaurant or other facilities. The waiting staff were friendly and helpful.

Well, other than that, the hotel is "nice and quiet". Soon, I understood why. Don't get me wrong, it's not a terrible hotel but certainly not meeting my standards or expectations of a hotel charging close to 200 bucks per night. A bit of a disappointment.

It's my first stay at Marriott and I will certainly have second thoughts about staying at another Marriott in the future. Frankly, we would have moved to the Hilton (which charges slightly lower rate) if not for the hassle and inconvenience with my baby. We had dinner at the Hilton for 3 nights in a row - Good food, great service and great atmosphere!

“It was ok”

Marriott Resort and Spa Guam

The staff here is very friendly. We were impressed by this. Our room was very small, and the bathroom was very outdated. We had to turn in a work order to fix the fixtures falling out of the wall, no plugs for tub, sink. The toilet seat was wobbly, we were hoping it would not break during our visit. The bed was very comfortable. The TV in the recreation area got all the advertised TV stations, but our rooms did not. Sometimes housekeeping did not come until the late afternoon. The outside grounds were really nice. The pool closed at 6 and the pool bar closed at 630, so we had to go to another hotel pool to swim at night. The PIC beside the Marriot was very loud until late at night. We did have trouble communicating with the staff for simple requests. We had difficulty getting directions or getting our questions understood. We did not eat at the restaurants, they were mostly expensive. The work out room had old, outdated equipment.
