“Great place ... but watch the area”

Inn San Francisco

This is a lovely Victorian on South Van Ness, which is furnished in keeping with the period. The Inn is friendly and offers incredibly good value, both in terms of lodging - one room has queen size bunk beds and a spa bath - and an extensive breakfast, which is eaten in the parlour and consists of various fresh fruits, quiches, flans, breads, cheeses etc. The Inn also has a hot tub, which guests are invited to use (but silently after 10pm to avoid disturbing the sleepers).

The only drawback to this accomodation is its location, in that this part of the Mission District may not be seen by some to be a comfortable area to walk late at night. Saying this, the attractions of down town and the piers are but a short cab/car ride away.

We enjoyed our stay very much.

My partner and I have stayed at The Inn San Francisco several times in the last 15 years. There is no better bed & breakfast inn, and we have stayed at several. The houses (there are two, one built in the late 1800s, one built in the early 1900s) are beautiful, particularly the main house which is a grand Victorian. The rooms are gorgeous, furnished with antiques, and truly give you a feel of what life might have looked like in the Victorian era. The breakfast is sumptuous. We're not talking sweet rolls here. They serve fresh baked breads and muffins (baked that morning), quiche (baked that morning), hard-cooked eggs, fresh fruit, ham and salami, cereals, fresh orange juice, wonderful coffee, tea, hot chocolate. Joseph Schmidt truffles are provided in the room daily (a local San Francisco candy maker -- the best), as well as fresh fruit. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate is available all day, as well as sherry. There is a wonderful garden to relax in, and a hot tub that is beautiful and romantic. There is a roof-top patio that affords guests a wonderful view of the entire city. The common areas are welcoming, beautiful, and make you feel right at home. Fred, the Inn's manager, goes above and beyond the call of duty. The bottom line is you are made to feel like a guest, and you are treated like a guest in the best way possible at all times. You get your money's worth here, and it is money well spent.

The Inn San Francisco was the first place that we stayed at, on our trip to the States. We thought that it was a great place to stay. The manager (Fred) and owner (Marty) were very welcoming and helpful in getting us orientated to the local and downtown areas. It is in the Mission area, which felt a little dodgy at first, but it turned out to be a really hip place to stay, wander round and eat (lots of different eateries). The Inn was clean and comfortable and had all mod cons around the antique furnishings. The buffet breakfast (fruit, muffins, cakes, breads, cereals) was tasty and substantial, setting us well up for the day ahead. Our room was on the snug side, but this did not bother us, since we were only there at nights (being out all day). It was a great find through the Trip Advisor website and we would recommend it to people wanting to have something different from the usual downtown big hotels.

“Loved The Inn San Francisco”

My husband and I actually live in San Francisco just a couple of blocks away from The Inn San Francisco. We live in a Retro style home. Being a native from San Francisco, I wanted to spend the night in a beautiful historic victorian mansion in San Francisco. This B&B was one of thee best I have ever stayed in (and I have stayed in many). It is exceptionally elegant and the hosts are wonderful. The breakfast was very delicious. We will defintely stay there again for a local get away that makes us feel like royalty.
