Stayed here for 5 nights and we were disappointed with the hotel.
On check-in we were upgraded to a Bay view Supierior room,which was a nice touch by the staff as we had mentioned this was part of a 3 week trip to USA for hubby's 50th birthday,the staff were helpful & friendly especially Greg the doorman, he always had good advice re: Restaurants directions etc.
The location of the hotel was good on the Embarcardero and easy transport links for Bart, Muni,cable cars & street trolley.
Our room did have a lovely view........but the room felt tired,dark and dingy,
Carpet was badly stained, the furniture was chipped and marked, lack of drawers and the snack tray was completely dusty and old looking, as though the stuff had been there since the hotel opened, certainly not tempting ! No ice-machines on any floors,no turn-down service or bottled water provided in room
Bathroom had a shower but no bathtub,and the lighting was poor,no electrical point near a mirror for drying hair and poor lighting in room for make-up,reading etc.
I would say this place is geared towards the business traveler probably staying overnight,and not for tourists/holiday makers.
We had come from staying 5 nights at The Wynn in Vegas which we paid less for than 5 nights at Vitale!
We loved San Francisco and will definitely be back........but not to the Vitale

Although I am pleased to hear you enjoyed the service from our wonderful team, I was disappointed that the quality of your room was not up to the reputation we have at Hotel Vitale. We have an ongoing program of carpet replacement and Rooms Preventative Maintenance.
