This newly opened museum/mansion/former field hospital (Gen. Gge. McClellan's headquarters) is a must see when exploring Sharpsburg and the Antietam Battlefield. My husband & I took a short overnight trip to Sharpsburg to visit the Battlefield & surprisingly, were only made aware of this musuem on our B & B's website & in a recent Washington Post article on the 145th anniversary of the Battle of Antietam. It's inexplicable that while on the National Park Service Antietam Battlefield guide, the Pry Museum is not explained, pictured or recommended. It's literally a marker on the map (though pictured on its website). If one wants a comprehensive tour of the areas involved in the Battle, the Pry House is a must. The director/curator has done a phenomenal job and if you are lucky enough to catch him there, is more than willing to share what he knows about this historical site and Civil War Medicine. Shame on the Park Service for doing this historical home a disservice! For more info, go to www.nps.gov/archive/anti/Pry_House.htm
