My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the jacob Rohrbach Inn and a visiting the nearby Antietam Battlefield. Our innkeepers, Paul and Joanne were simply wonderful and made the stay a real experience. Both are extremely well versed in the historical events that took place both at their inn and at the battlefield. The breakfast served was delicious and and conversation delightful. We will definitely stay there again when in the area and heartily recommend the inn to travelers in the area.

Clean, neat, quiet, and what great beds. Joanne is a fantastic hostess with the fabulous, delicious, never empty cookie jar (except once when we emptied it).

They know everything about the area so feel free to ask. Restaurants were exactly as stated and recommended.

Paul was the coffee maker (literally) as Joanne says she's the Mr. Coffee Maker person. He'll even share his roasting process and tips for side trips on roads less traveled; both know the history of the area like the back of their hands.

Now be sure and save room for a fabulous breakfast that will ease your day's huunger pangs till dinner, enjoy Belgian waffles, pancakes, fruit compote, sausage, bacon, sweet coffee cakes, fresh fruit, juice, and oh, don't forget the freshly roasted and brewed coffee. They even made gluten-free pastries for another guest.

Highly recommended, the General's Quarters, rich in antiques and history. They even have DVDs of Civil War movies and cale TV and a laptop if you just can't get away from the modern world.

What a wonderful weekend we had in this inn - the rooms were fabulous - historic but modern & comfortable and the breakfast was out of this world. The Inn keepers are "like" friends and the location to Antietem can't be beat. I would highly recommend this for a wonderful weekend getaway.

Cycling the C&O canal we decided to make a detour and visit Antietam. It was so interesting that we lost track of time and found that we should bunk for the night in Sharpsburg. Just happened upon the Jacob Rohrbach Inn. Upon meeting the Innkeeper we knew instantly that we wanted to stay there and it just got better from there; great room, amenities, location, garden, back porch, friendly guests and a delicious breakfast. I highly recommend making a detour to this wonderful Inn.

The Jacob Rohrbach Inn was perfect for what we wanted; a small town, a quaint old inn with all of the modern ammenities, a delightful hostess with plenty of local recommendations for what to do and where to eat, a lovely garden and walking distance to Nutter's Ice Cream where we had some of our best ever ice cream for $1.15 with a sugar cone. Joanne's breakfasts were so good I had to get recipes. We enjoyed a personal tour of Antietam by Bob and the Stone Soup Bistro in Shepherdstown and a day trip to Harper's Ferry. We are enjoying fond memories of our visit!
