After reading some other reviews, we were lukewarm about this place, but the location and price were right. We arrived early evening. The front desk person was young and clearly not experienced, but tried his best to accommodate our needs. There are 3 buildings. Here's a tip: Stay in the first one! The first building has the breakfast room, indoor pool and front desk. The view from the windows is so-so. The 2nd building (about a city block walk to the door of the first building) has bigger rooms, but they overlook an abandoned outdoor swimming pool that is now apparently used as a trash dump. No info on the 3rd building, because after some negotiation, we scored a room in Building 1. The bathroom was clean, except for what looked like hard water stains in the toilet. The breakfast, included in the price of the room, was good: make-your-own waffles, several cold cereals, juices, coffee, bagels, bread, etc. Big plus for us was that the racetrack casino is only a mile down the road - but it's dicey getting onto the highway: the Inn is at the top of a hill, and the road curves in both directions, so it's easy to miss the driveway to turn in, and difficult to cross oncoming traffic to get out!

I've stayed in worse than this. We stayed here because Hilltop Hotel only had a room with a double bed and we sleep with a one-year-old in a king-sized bed at home. No one would have slept in a double bed. We checked Comfort Inn and they only had a smoking room, which we didn't want.

I was leary at first of this place, but gave it a chance, since we had driving all over Charlestown and there were only two small motels in the "town" besides the aforementioned. We only needed a room for one night. How do they support a race track and slots without hotels, and only a Pizza Hut and Burger King to eat at?

There were only two or three other cars in the parking lot when we checked in around 6:00 pm. My husband came out of the lobby and said, "Wow!" I asked if that was bad or good, and he said it was good since we only paid $63.00 for a room with a king sized bed.
They told my husband at check in that Cliffside went bankrupt and Quality Inn bought the place four years ago.

We were in the second building. You could tell they had built on to make the room entrances "inside" instead of just opening up to the outdoors. At first the keycard didn't work, but he was using it wrong. The room was small but clean. The carpet was new and clean. There were stains on the concrete walls, and it was dirty behind the bathroom door, but I assume that would be because not many people stay here and it's just a housekeeping issue. When I turned on the sink to wash my hands, the water was brown. Again, I assume it's because it hadn't been used in a while, so I wasn't concerned, and didn't have the problem again.

I wouldn't want to stay for a week here, but it was fine for an overnight stay. There is still much work to be done, the outdoor pool is still inoperable, but there's not much choice if you need to stay in the area.

We spent the first night in the Comfort Inn (because of the terrible reviews of the Quality Inn) and were appalled at the traffic noise and small room. We decided to check out the Quality Inn the next morning and found it to be wonderful, esp. compared to the Comfort Inn.
We stayed at the Quality Inn 5 days. It was clean, spacious and newly decorated, including new carpets everywhere. The lobby was big and clean and very nice. The breakfast room is huge and everyone was friendly. Nice laundry room and pool area. Our double room had 2 queens and was big and clean and comfy and very quiet. The bathroom was designed as tub and toilet in one room and sink in the other.
I can't believe the previous reviews as we experienced nothing like that. The only thing I can think of is that it is a big hotel, with at least three buildings. We were in the same building as the lobby. It could be some of the other buildings have not been updated???

“Awful hotel. Do not stay here!! ”

I stayed at this hotel on a recent trip to visit the slots. You would not believe the experience. We checked into the hotel and were sent to our room and opened the door and it was still dirty. Beer cans in the trash, beds not made, etc. Our room was not ready when we arrived and we waited in the hall until 4:30 pm to check in. The maid said the room was not on her list to clean. When we finally got into our room, it was gross. The toilet was black and the shower was dirty. There wasn't anybody aswering the phones at the hotel. Our card did not open the room door and I later discovered that they did not have me registered in the correct room. How? THE FRONT DESK CLERK CALLED MY ROOM AT 2AM TO FIND OUT WHO WAS STAYING IN THE ROOM BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE ME REGISTERED! It was an unbelievable experience. Take my word... I do not usually complain.. do not stay at this hotel. The young lady at the front desk told me that she has only worked there for two weeks and the managers just come and go as they please. Boy, it is obvious. Never again!!! Go to the clarion.

“RUN!!!! Don't walk AWAY from this PLACE”

This place should be shut down! It is dirty, bathrooms not clean, bedding not clean, staff not willing to do thier job. Staff rude and looking as dirty as rooms. Staff lies right to your face. Service??? there is none. Don't call front desk they don't answer walk to front desk you will find clerk sitting in lobby with friends. They do not even come in your room to make the bed or clean. Don't ask for towels for the pool if your brave enough to go in there, the indoor pool is freezing, when you ask front desk if there is any way for heat to be in the pool area we were told to check a toggle switch maybe the fan is on, (it was not on) but no one came to correct the problem. A sit down dinner for a wedding was served, the salad was warm, the steaks were dry and hard not one cooked right, the rolls came out after salad, and was served by a girl in a very dirty old white t- shirt, bride and groom was not served first but near the end, there was no food served that could be eaten by any one, The brides mother even ironed the table clothes that day since they were in terrible condition, and reset the table. Taking a shower had to keep turning off water since the drain's backed up. Toilets had black crud growing in them, this was in 4 of the rooms that was booked. Option given to us is do you want to go someplace elese.. entire family was staying there for this wedding. Total lack of concern for the guest. Health dept. should shut this place down. The list of amenities they gave up was not what was there at all.
