A very cool place to explore.
We've visited Mesa Verde National Park many times. While the history of of ancient peoples at Bandelier is somewhat comparable, the look and feel is of this park is totally different.
Bandelier is more low key and has much less driving required (only 3 miles of roads and 70 miles of hiking trails!)
At Mesa Verde, the cliff dwelling are more complete. While at Bandelier, you see mostly ruins (more like Chaco Canyon) and caves in the cliff side.
We noticed they had many docents explaining the history and significance of the ruins. While it sounded interesting, we opted for a self-guided walk/hike using the map given to us at the entrance gate. We really enjoyed exploring the cliff caves on our own. There are Kiva ladders to allow you climb up and experience the sensation up close.
The only downside (beyond the limited parking spaces) was that we didn't budget enough time to fully explore. We would definitely go back again.
