My wife and I have stayed at TL & TR twice and really like everything about it. It's neighborhood Montford, is located near downtown and the highway. We took some really nice walks from there into downtown.
The breakfast is as good as any that I have been served. Seriously. When we stayed the second time Jim offered to make huevos rancheros (my favorite breakfast dish), which I had enjoyed the first visit.
The house and grounds are really nice and they offer movies and snacks for their guests. This is where we will stay when we return.

My wife and I had heard wonderful things about The Lion and the Rose Bed and Breakfast in Asheville,North Carolina. So,we decided to go there on our honeymoon. All the great things we had heard about this beautiful inn were indeed true and surpassed our expectations!
We stayed at The Lion and the Rose for four wonderful nights. It is a beautiful victorian inn and we stayed in the suite which takes up the entire third floor of the inn! While the suite was quite roomy,it was also very cozy. All the rooms in the suite were tastefully elegant and at the same time, the suite was like a home away from home.
Our first morning,we ate our sumptuous breakfast out on the balcony of the suite. This is an option for those who stay in the suite! The other mornings we joined the other guests in the beautiful dining room where the conversation was always stimulating and again the food was delicious! But we always started the day with coffee delivered to our room.My wife and I felt like royalty because that's the way the owners Jim and Linda make you feel!
And now, more about Jim and Linda. They were constantly available to meet our every need.It was like having your own private concierge(s).In addition to maintaining a cabinet with brochures on all to see and do in Asheville, they directed us to some great places to dine and freely gave their input on restaurants and attractions when asked.
Another thing we loved about our stay was that snacks and beverages were available 24 hours a day in the pantry. And,we even had our own snacks and drinks in our fridge in the suite.Talk about being pampered!!!
The grounds of the inn are quite beautiful. And the parlors are relaxing with interesting art and antiques. We later learned that Linda does much of the gardening. And I don't want to forget to mention that Jim is indeed the goumet chef who prepares all the sumptuous food!
I could go on and on,but I would highly suggest that you stay at The Lion and the Rose yourself to experience this wonderful inn and the beautiful town of Asheville! My wife and I will always remember our Honeymoon in Heaven!!!

We spent four wonderful nights at The Lion & The Rose in the beautiful Marion Hall room which is very spacious, although the bathroom was on the small side. Everything was perfect! Our hosts, Jim and Linda Palmer, and the staff were gracious, and went out of their way to make us comfortable. Coffee was delivered to the room each morning, and the breakfasts, made by Jim, were spectacular!!! The dining room and common areas are magnificent. We also appreciated the open larder that was available 24 hours a day, complete with cookies, snacks, sodas, and even bottled water to take on day trips! There were also decanters of port and sherry available downstairs, along with the appropriate crystal stemware! This late 19th century mansion is gorgeous and conveniently located only about 5 minutes from an area of the city with several restaurants. This is definitely a repeater when in the Asheville area!

“Comfortable, Friendly, and Impressive”

The Lion & The Rose Bed & Breakfast

21 Oct 2007

We stayed in the suite at the LIon and the Rose, which is the whole third floor of the inn. It's a huge living area with a small balcony overlooking the beautiful front lawn and gardens. The breakfasts were incredible, with food and surroundings which were quite elegant, but not pretentious. We had the run of the house, including access to snacks and beverages at all hours of the day and night. It was almost like staying in our own winter home for a few days. The innkeepers were incredibly friendly and helpful , but not to the point of being intrusive, which is what you find at some other inns. For anyone who wants a relaxed, comfortable B and B in Asheville, with great service, great food, and a relaxed atmosphere, this place is it.
