Unfortunately, due to a shortage of rooms at this time of year, my wife and I stayed here. It has taken us 5 days to find another motel with a vacancy. We leave in the morning. Never again will I need a motel room so bad. For such a nice looking place at first impression, this EconoLodge not only proved to be a dump, it was a living nightmare. Not once did our door key work without going to the office to have the cards reset. This resulted in about 30 trips to the lobby. Mrs. Patel, the owner, blamed our cell phone for causing it. She can express her opinion on this but when you have a complaint she forgets how to speak English. Sheets changed once in 5 days and the bed was only made up 3 times. Room was never once vacuumed, and trash emptied 3 times. Phone stoped working on the third day; refrigerator cools very little; “free breakfast” a joke. I did find one positive thing: the microwave in our room was supercharged. Guest next door allowed to shake the walls all night for two nights with music. Owner's decided to cook huge pot of something on sidewalk near our door. Today the maintenance man said there was nothing wrong with our door cards, it is the lock that is messed-up. The next time I was in the office Mrs. Patel's English was better; she said “You understand your cell phone broke my $200 lock”. My reply “You understand that you are crazy as hell”. I think you can gather that we were not happy with our stay. Skip this motel; there is a almost new Super-8 next door for only a few dollars more. I gave 1 star only because of the microwave and the good location. I think I was just happy to find anything in the room that actually worked. As we waited for our cab at check-out our phone rang with the desk clerk telling me that our cab was at the office. I asked him how he was able to call me as our phone had been broken for 2 days. He told me that our phone worked fine, that it was turned off by the owner. I asked why and he said that when Mrs. Patel finds a local call to another motel she turns your phone off to make it harder to leave. This beats anything I have ever seen any other motel do. We are now at a nearby motel as Tunnel Road is a good location and we are much happier. After this living horror of an Econo Lodge any place wound tend to make us happy. If your standards are higher than a flop-house you would be well advised to skip this place. On Tuesday I am going to see if the Choice Hotel chain cares about this property. If they don't then I will just vote with my wallet.
Tunnel Road area is great. You can find a lot of good places from 155 Tunnel to the 600 block. Do no...
