I stumbled across the Inn on Montford on the net because I was looking for Dog friendly accommodations. My wife and I were traveling with our well manner male boxer on our way back from Florida. We were in Savannah and decided to try a bed and breakfast and hopefully spoil ourselves. In the past, I've had mixed reviews at best with the various B&B's I've been too. Too kitschy, too "cute", too much like sleeping in someone else's home. From what I saw on their site though, the inn looked really nice and the kicker was of course that they were dog friendly and didn't shy away from the fact that our dog weighs over 50lbs. 50 seems to be the magic (cursed?) number at so many hotels.
I think I gave the inn one or two days heads up for a two night stay and luckily they had vacancy. We arrived and were greeted at the front door by Lynn. My wife went in to the main house and I was directed around back since they have a house cat and I had the dog on leash. Lynn was super friendly, funny and personable. She genuinely seemed happy to see us and right away you could tell that her heart was in the right place. She showed us to the carriage house and our "William Morris" room. The room was fantastic! Everything was finished in a Arts and Crafts style which appealed to me. I was terrified it would be some rose wall paper sheee sheee room based on previous B&B's. The room was very well equipped with a fridge, a very nice walk in shower with a variety of shower heads and a steam shower built in all made out of tile and stone. They also had a very nice and good sized hot tube whirl pool which we used ever night. The kicker was the french doors which opened to our own little private court yard. It was exceedingly comfortable and the bed, sheets and pillows were all top notch.
For the morning we opted to have breakfast brought to our sweet by a very nice woman who worked at the inn and adored our dog. Every morning happy to see her, our dog would grab a stuffed toy and in a heavy southern accent the woman would say, "is that your baybay?" She was charming and we were happy to see her not only because she brought our breakfast. After our first night during the day while walking around town, I suggested we stay an extra night and again we lucked out, vacancy! We enjoyed it that much that we decided to stick around.
I have nothing but good things to say about this inn. Lynn, Ron and their help were all very nice and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the inn to any friends or family. We'll be back. Our only regret is that there aren't more places like this to stay across the country.
