We visited the museum on a Tuesday and found that they had decided to close a few hours early for a private event of some kind. We only had about 25 minutes before they asked everyone to leave. It was a nice museum though with what seemed like a very diverse group of activities for kids from about 3 to 9 y.o. The climbing structure is great and some of the areas dedicated to physics (rolling balls, shooting things with air pressure, etc.) we very interesting to our 5 year old. If we get back to Boston though and try to go again we would certainly call first though t make sure the public is welcome. I am not sure how often they alter their standard hours for private events. We had checked their website and the early closing was not listed under the "hours and admission" section. After returning to our hotel I did find that the event was listed on their website in another section with 5-6 other announcements that were cycling, in other words you have to let the page sit and flip through the rotating announcements before the item about the early closing pops up. Anyway, long story short, good museum but I recommend anyone planning to visit double check with a phone call, traveling all the way out to that part of town with kids and finding out they are closed early is not a great way to spend an afternoon, as I am sure any parent would agree.
