Good time in Boston. Everyone was nice. We were surprised to see the hotel wanted $12.95 for the breakfast buffet. It was too much especially with so many diners in the area for breakfast. Overall was a nice hotel. Comfortable beds, nice and quiet at night.

I stayed at the Doubletree Downtown Boston this past Labor Day weekend and I was extremely pleased with the hotel. After reading some of the reviews I had my doubts and I even reserved a room at the Hilton Logan airport for the next night just in case I didn't like this hotel. I arrived Thursday morning and called the hotel to notify them that I had arrived and see if I could check in earlier, it was 10:00 am, they said sure come in. When I arrived about 10:40 am, I was told that they had one smoking king room available, I actually booked a smoking king room because that was all they had at the time of my booking but I really wanted a non-smoking room. I was advised that I could check-in into the smoking room now and if I thought it was too bad come back around 3:00pm to see if any non smoking came available. I checked in and went up to room 301, the room had only a very slight hint of smoke but wasn't bad but the room kinda small. I checked out the bathroom and it was big and clean, but since the room was small I called the front desk to ask for another room, they advised me to wait until 3:00pm so I left my things in the room and went exploring downtown crossing. I got back at exactly 3pm and went to the front desk to change my room, I was told that only one non smoking king was available 621 so I took it. Went up to the room and the business center is right down from it, the room was clean and a very nice size much much bigger than the one on the 3rd floor. I had requested a microwave for $5 extra/night and it was on top of the small table with the coffe maker and cups, next to that was a desk and a computer chair. There was 27in TV, in the closet were sleepers and a terry cloth robe. The bathroom in this room was small compared to the one on 3rd floor but it was big enough. I was very happy with this room, the bed was extremely comfortable with many pillows. The staff was very helpful and go out of there way to make you comfortable. The hotel is right at the Orange Line was transportation was so easy. The neighborhood was fine, I walked around at night without any problems, McDonalds and Chinatown are one block away. New England Medical Center and AuBonPain are right across the street. I will be staying here again. The cookies each evening they have a so good.

“So much better than I was led to expect by some of the reviews”

Doubletree Boston - Downtown

Like the last reviewer I was really worried about going to the Doubletree after reading some previous reviews about safety. Me and my husband went to Boston with our 3 teenage daughters and the concern about the area this hotel is in is so totally unfounded. We walked around the area at night when coming back after dinner and it was quiet and peaceful, clean and well lit. I was not worried at all and if you are reading this review then should be totally relaxed about your safety. The T stop was right nearby and so it was easy to get to anywhere. And you could walk easily too. The concierge in the hotel were outstanding - we kept asking them questions and it was never too much trouble for them. They booked tours for us on the trolley buses which you can get on and off around the city and they did a telephone booking for us for the whale watch trip which our girls loved - we saw humpback whales. The hotel was extremely clean (and I am really fussy!) and the beds were the best I have ever slept in. Our rooms were at the back of the courtyard so we didn't have any noise at all. Yes there is no view but surely no one can expect a view in a city hotel?!! You are surrounded by buildings of course!! All in all we had a great time in a very comfortable hotel in a perfect area for sightseeing and we were very grateful to the concierge for all their help in making our visit so easy and enjoyable.

We booked this room through Priceline (the first time we ever used it) and once it was booked and paid for I read reviews here and was in tears. The hotel has a bad reputation of being in a shady area, noisey, ect. My husband insisted we come anyone and give it a try and we were pleasantly relieved. The hotel itself is newly remodeled, clean, with very comfortable beds. The hotel staff were fine, helpful, but not the same as the Omni Parker House. The hotel is located right near Tufts and The New England Medical Center, but despite being near a very busy hospital it was VERY quiet, no ambulances or noise at all. The hotel is a bit out of the way, but neighbhoring China town and the theater district aren't a problem at all. We walked very safely to Quincy Market and back after 10pm and had no problems. All and all Boston is a very safe city and what others assume to be "shady areas" are really nothing at all. I wouldn't count this hotel out based on other reviews, in fact I would keep it in mind as an affordable place for couples and families to stay in downtown Boston.

Excellent value for money at this hotel, considering its in "downtown" boston. First off, the lobby and rooms are impeccably clean and new, the beds are comfy and the bathroom clean and shiny. I was surprised the hotel looked this good for a doubletree, but i think its new. Probabaly a great place to stay with a family too. No complaints about the hotel, but the location might be a put off, especially at night. The location is near the major Tufts hospital, but lands in between the no man zone of the scary at night downtown crossing and the nobody is there after 10pm chinatown. Would not feel comfortable walking around at night trying to get back to the hotel, especially if a female. The staff at the hotel are good, they do their job, nothing more or less.
