Stayed at This Bed and Breaksfast for 2 nights. It did not have the comfortable ambience of usual B & B's. You were renting a room and that was it. Miminmal interaction with the hosts. To us they rented out a room and it was not what we expected of a B and B. Unfortunately they double booked our room. The hosts were rarely there. Locaility was ok with a ten minute walk to the train. Local dining was good. Not much to see around here, have to go into the city. The streetscape is lovely but it all happens in the city.

What they failed to mention was that we bent over backwards to find them their last night in an excellent location at another Bed and Breakfast, paid the difference in room rate, and drove them there personally to make sure they were happy with the accommodation. At the time, they seemed very happy and pleased with our efforts.

We were very upset that our reservation system had doubled booked their last night. It had happened because they had changed the dates twice through exchanged emails, but that is still not their fault, our responsibility totally and we feel the service we provided was more that just a room.

We just spent a few days at Taylor House in Boston last weekend and we attended the Yankees/Sox game. We loved Taylor House. A few things we really enjoyed:

1 - It is not in downtown Boston. It is in a very quaint area and the houses surrounding it are very pretty and old fashioned.

2 - It is a short walk to shops and restaurants if you don't feel like driving.

3 - It cost us $12 to take a cab to Fenway so we didn't have to find parking near the stadium.

4 - Our room was so pretty and quaint.

5 - The bed was honestly extremely comfortable. I wouldn't normally comment on how a bed feels but this bed was exceptional.

6 - Another kind of odd thing to comment on - the bathroom fixtures - we loved them. The shower and the sink have outstanding water pressure and the shower/tub has really outstanding kind of old fashioned spray things that make the shower kind of unique.

7 - Breakfast was great, buffet style, and served late in case you want to sleep in.

8 - The Golden Retrievers are the sweetest dogs and very very friendly.

Overall we loved Taylor House and would definitely go back.

We stayed at Taylor House whilst spending a few days sightseeing in Boston. It is in a great location, Jamaica Plain, which is a little out of the centre of Boston but is on the T (metro train, a mere 10 minute stroll). The house is beautifully renovated, the room we had was lovely and spacious. The breakfast buffet each morning was very good - cereal, juice, yogurt, home made bread, pastry and alway something hot. Wags and Parker, the dogs, are very cute and add to the charm. Daryl and Dave were helpful and friendly hosts. A perfect spot with some great local restaurants.

    • Disliked — Nothing.
    • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — Do not bother with a car in Boston. Use the T to get around. It runs directly to the airport and is so easy to use.

I have to tell the world that this B&B is the most romantic and gorgeous place I have ever stayed. My boyfriend and I were overwhelmed at the house - it was truly beautiful and enchanting. It was so sylish, there was not a hint on chintz in sight - something that we normally hate about b&bs.

We spent two nights there in mid october, the rest of our trip was spent in the Radisson in Phili (awful in comparison) and another lovely guesthouse in D.C. But Taylor House was by far the best.

We love staying in nice hotels, The Fairmont being our favorite but this topped absolutely everything. The hosts were perfect and so unintrusive, we even loved the dogs and we are not dog people. So if you are lucky enough to get a vacancy go for it. You will love it.

“Great alternative”

For our first visit to Boston we were a little put off by the hotel rates we found and were uncertain what area to stay in. Preferring the warmth of a B&B over a hotel, we stumbled across Taylor House and found the reviews to be favorable. We were concerned with the area being outside of Boston, and our neighbor who used to live in Boston warned us when we told her what area we were staying in. We discovered Jamaica Plains has clearly changed since she lived in Boston, and is a charming and relaxing neighborhood with great restaurants. After spending the day sight-seeing in Boston, Centre Street was a relaxing option, and a short walk from Taylor House. Try the Centre Street Cafe for an excellent dinner and service. The Boston transit system is a 10 minute walk from Taylor House and surprisingly easy and convenient, even from/to the airport. The Taylor House breakfast was basically a deluxe Continental with fresh fruits, homemade breads and pastries, and more. We found the home to be very relaxing and to have everything we needed, even a computer to check email, though it could use some extra dusting in areas. We would definitely return.
