I am a platinum member of the IHG Fidelity program so I don't tend to lean towards Marriots, especially if it is not a JMarriot or such. My friend who is a Marriot member booked this stunning hotel for a two day stay in Boston. First, the location on this newest, most hip and enchanting area of Boston is such a nice change from congested downtown. I LOVED this area. The hotel was a paint factory built in 190 and like many buildings in this area, they redesigned the hotel keeping many architectural elements of the original building. The exposed , old brick and detail was not what I was expecting from this striking lobby and public areas throughout the hotel. The staff were all incredibly friendly and very 5* professional...and they were very nice to our Golden 'Cara'. We were upgraded to a One Bedroom suite even though the reservation was with points. It was a stunning room with a tall ceiling showing timber beams and exposed brick. The furniture was contemporary and I must admit although I don't go for the kitchen , longstay type of room....this hotel does it right with very upscale, well though out touches. The bedroom and the bed were incredibly comfortable and we did not hear a peep at night! They are very generous with tons of pots of coffee to make in the rom and some quality teas. The free breakfast has a large assortment and if you don't want the items that are not freshly baked or made from organic, multigrain this or that....you could grab all sorts of choices for a good breakfast. Fresh juice, fresh fruit, yogurt and fruit parfaits, delicious oatmeal with granola and raisins, muffins and so on. Many people seem to enjoy the make your own waffle batter into the waffle machine...but I need 'real' maple syrup for a waffle and to be honest..for the price of this beautiful hotel with a breakfast included (oh wait...quality name teas and coffee also) ....it is quite a pleasant experience. The lobby is also very welcoming to sit and have a drink or grab an orange from the many bowls of fruit around the area. A different type of stay for me...and one that I found exemplary. Free wifi but the parking is expensive!
